Amazing! Falafels made fresh when ordered and put in fluffy pitas with fresh tomatoes and fixings. Baklava is also a must. Fantastic food, friendly service. Don't let the little building throw you off, it is very clean inside.
(5)Larry N.
Don't let the "shack" fool you!!' Amazing shawarma can be found here!' The owner / cook is super nice and a great cook to boot!
(5)Elliot C.
Had a quick stop in Anchorage and surprised and thrilled to find kosher shawarma. Fantastic!
(5)Tluweyen S.
Love the shwarma. I have eaten here a few times and every time it has been good. Fresh made to order every time.
(5)Mikini W.
I stumbled on this place today. I'm here on a business trip and I'm so glad I found it. The falafel was freshly prepared and chock full of flavor! The pita was fresh and loaded with 6 ample sized falafel. The toppings complimented the falafel and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite!
(5)A B.
First time eating here and will definitely be coming back. We ordered the Falafel and another item that was similar to the Shawarma. Both were delicious and their Falafel in particular is fantastic. Wonderful mix of flavors, texture and spice..yum!
(5)Jennifer S. P.
We were visiting town and I saw this spot on yelp. I would highly recommend this to locals and visitors. We ordered falafel and shwarma and we were definitely satisfied. Great Israeli vibe and good food.
(5)B D.
We visited Anchorage for one day and we had the most amazing falafel and kabobs and shawarma !! Yes in anchorage Alaska you can get authentic fresh great food for an amazing price. The owner actually apologies when we ordered fries, he said "I am sorry it takes a little longer because I have to cut the potato" you can't go wrong!!
(5)Sanjana G.
We love this place for lunch, falafel and shawarma sandwiches are very tasty. These are freshly made just in front of you!
(5)Jon A.
fantastic shawrama, real fresh falafel. great food, no car bombs. highly recommended.
(5)Yanhua P.
Really good felafel made to order, the owner is very nice, although the shop is tiny, there are a few tables inside. This is a cash only place. Very fairly priced for Anchorage.
(4)Clifton F.
Absolutely excellent food. There is nothing more to say. I ordered shawarma, falafel and baklava and all of them are top notch. The meat is excellent, veggies are fresh and crisp, and sauces are delicious.
(5)Kent H.
This place is the real deal! I've wanted to come here for a while, and when a buddy suggested it for lunch, I'm in! We got here at about 1145 and the parking lot was deserted. However, the OPEN sign was lit and in we went. I knew I was in love when I saw the condiment area contained a tub of hot pickled peppers, and two tubs of spicy red deliciousness. We both had the shawarma plate. Slices of freshly carved meat from a spit atop some cabbage, onions, and other veggies. Diced tomatoes and more onions were on the side with a container of tahini, and a scoop of hummus. A pita also came with it and I guess the idea was to put it all together. The heck with that, I just mixed it all together with a couple of scoops of red, and down it went. Delicious! This is a tiny place with only four tables or I would have given it a full five stars. A rare occurrence on my Yelp page. Oh! Get here NLT 1145. Right after we ordered, the place was packed!
(4)Rachel S.
Don't let the outside fool you... The lady serves up delicious huge home cooked meals!! Definitely order 1 for 2 people, unless you're a football player. W got a chicken dish that had tons of veggies, delicious running juices, a couple of pieces of pita, and some other toppings. It was a giant to-go container filled to the brim for $14. There are 3 or 4 high tops, but its already crowded with just the tables. She generally has some jewish news or tv on, but I feel comfortable staying if its not too crowded. She'll close of she runs out of food so make sure you're there early!
(4)Gene M.
I don't always eat lunch here, but when I do, I kick myself for not always eating lunch here! Their Schwarma is flat out delicious. To me, it is the perfect lunch size too. For $11, it's a good deal for fresh meat and ingredients. It's not very roomy inside for an eat-in place, but for take out, it's awesome! If you've been in Europe, think Doner Kebab, but better!
(5)Casey S.
My friend eats lunch here every Friday and now has me hooked! I thought that I hated Shawarma from my days of living in Istanbul where it was the only options for fast food, but my after trying my boyfriend's order I actually ordered one of my own! They use chicken and beef instead of lamb so it's a lot less gamey than traditional shawarma. Avi, the owner, is really friendly and lets you pay after eating. I am all about family owned hole in the wall restaurants that serve up great food. Falafel King fits the bill perfectly complete with faded family portraits and Israeli soap operas on the television.
(4)Sam S.
First of all the place looks very shady. It's a little shack on the side of the road. The place was dead even though it was lunchtime. We dined there, spacing is limited and they only have bar tables. I wasn't comfortable and I felt like I had to keep my eyes on my car all the time. No surprise when we left we were approached by some drunks for money. Note: I love mom and pop joints in town but this was just ghetto. Now for the surprise $9 for a falafel sandwich ouch... It's a veggie mix in pita really, no fries no coke included. okay fine I'm in Alaska and my choices are limited lets get two please. I can't believe the other reviews. I know my falafels and this is not a good falafel, I can probably make a better one if I ever tried. honestly the sandwich is terrible. The falafels are too gritty and the sandwich is just a big pita with falafels and all the wrong veggies thrown in. No parsley or onions just your standard sams club cabbage mix lol. No rollup technique so you will have trouble eating it. The sauce was tasteless no tartar. My wife is more delicate than me so she barely had some bites from her sandwich and then the stomach pains started. Me I can eat anything. definitely not coming back.
(1)Doug T.
This guy makes great food! Don't let the size of the inside fool you. This place does falafel right. No surprise, since the owner is from Israel. He is also very friendly and sincerely interested in making sure you love the food. We did!!! If you want falafel or shawarma in Anchorage, this is definitely the place.
(5)Austin K.
The food here was a definite highpoint in my Alaskan adventure. Upon entering I was treated like family. The owner scoops the falafel right before your eyes so you know it is all prepared fresh. The tahini and hummus are both excellent alone and round out the falafel perfectly. The falafel plate was quite large with 10 pieces and sides. This would definitely be on my list of places to go if i ever end back up in Anchorage.
(5)Shannon C.
I had their falafel. I like my falafel crisp and all but that was a little too crisp to my liking. My mouth got tired from chewing. It was pretty tasty though. I took the left overs home and ate it the next day and it turned out to be a tad bit better cause it wasn't so hard. Wish it was in a better side of town. Overall so so, wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.
(3)David H.
The first thing I did when I moved to Anchorage was drive straight here to try a shawarma. It was delicious. I'm definitely going to go back regularly.
(5)Chamile U.
I've been looking everywhere that makes authentic gyros and I thought I found the place. Although it was fresh gyro meat, it was disgusting. When I walked inside it had a very foul sweaty smell, not sure if it was the food or the people. After eating the food, I figured it out. I read that the baklava was homemade, wrong! That was definitely frozen because I tasted the same thing at two other places (I'm a baklava fanatic). I have yet to find a good authentic gyro and baklava in Alaska *sigh*.
(1)Sarah L.
This is one of two of my favorite places to eat in Anchorage. Been coming for years and never wrote a review. The Schwarma is to die for. Don't drive past this it's easy to miss and must try!!
(5)Shaunevalice L.
I now know how they got their name! They are the "Falafel King" I ordered the beef style gyro and a order of six falafel and it was wonderful!
(4)Linda M.
Just had lunch here and it was excellent. Not much seating but the food was fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. Look forward to going back!
(5)Daniel G.
this guy and his family make one hell of a falafel. falafel's are one of my favorite foods and I can't speak highly enough of falafel king. the menu is simple and it says on the bottom: "Everything is made fresh by the order except the pitas which are made every morning." The menu doesn't lie, when you order a falafel you have to wait a few minutes while the owner whips together the falafel balls and throws them in the fryer. The homemade pitas are also amazing... i haven't tried the schwarma but will go back soon to get a taste. This place is a gem
(5)Jin C.
Their food here is phenomenal. The owners are very personable and friendly. But the main reason I'm writing this review is to tell everyone that they have a credit card machine now, so it'll be even easier to enjoy their scrumptious food.
(5)Jeff H.
I love everything on the menu! Delicious food and they'll treat you like family kinda service.
(5)Karen M.
I walked by because I thought it was closed, really yummy schwarma, the hummus is so creamy and the pita beyond fresh. Worth a stop.
(5)Adam T.
Wow, what a find! This place is a totally unassuming spot on a dead corner of Gambell. It's completely worth searching out though. Parking is available and since the restaurant itself is tiny (only seating for 6 people), you may need to take it on the road. We had the Shawerma pita & the grilled chicken pita. Both were insanely delicious. Beautifully spiced, overflowing with ingredients and contained within this delicious, pillowy pita bread. Avi, the owner, was incredibly gracious and welcoming. This will definitely be a new staple of mine.
(5)Josh B.
Excellent falafel and hummus. Great salad and cabbage as well. Also the owner is one of the most friendly people I've met in anchorage. Excellent fast service, great food, and a great cozy location, couldn't be happier with my experience. Highly recommended.
(5)Thomas A.
The food is great! A good mix of middle eastern food. I mainly stay with the falafel or the shawarma which are both the best I have ever had. But what I find outstanding is the general friendliness and understand of the cooks that help you and walk you through what you want. I am glad that have a credit card machine now!
(4)Jorgi F.
Made to order. Fresh. Delicious!! Extremely friendly!! Don't let the exterior fool you, this is a gem.
(5)Jenny W.
Awesome food truly Israeli and great to support a family business! Will be going back for sure.
(4)Maria K.
When I saw the outside of the place, I was hesitant, but this place is great! The woman behind the counter was super friendly and overjoyed to tell me all about the freshness of the food. I could tell she took pride in the fact that everything was made from scratch and super fresh. The fries are hand cut and personally cooked for you (and only when you place your order), the hummus and tahini are made the night before...I think she said they make everything but the pickles! Everything was absolutely delicious (including the baklava, which I am normally pretty particular about) and served in a more than generous portion. If that wasn't enough, the place is decorated with personal touches such as family photos, articles about the business and even a handwritten thank you note from someone who had been trusted to pay the shop owners back when they did not have money to pay for their meal. If that doesn't warm your heart, I am not sure what will. :) Personally, I wish they gave the outside a little bit of a facelift because I think it doesn't quite reflect how amazing the food and service are when you're a guest at Falafel King, but this is a must visit!
(4)Christian C.
I have to agree w/ the majority of the reviews here. This place is excellent. It is very inexpensive for all they give you and the cook is extremely friendly. He often will make things special order for you in a separate pan once he recognizes you should you have demands outside the norm. It is small, you can get stuck there waiting in line during lunch and it is CASH$$ ONLY so remember that before you stop by.
(5)MJ A.
Boyfriend says lets walk for dinner. Its November and I'm freezing after our mile walk, we walk up to this place and I (an adventurous eater) laughed. Its the smallest place to eat that I have ever been. It looks awful. But eater be advised...the treat inside is worth it. Don't judge a book by its cover. We walked in to a small eating area and a lovely lady who helped us with the menu items we were not familiar with. Boyfriend got the Falafel plate and it was very good! I got the the handmade Schwarma plate. The lady was so excited about the food that I had to try it. Melt in your mouth good. WOW! I would walk as far as it took to Falafel King. I hope it stays the same and when I come back it is just as it was a delicious, family run restaurant.
(5)Mila L.
This restaurant is one of the best. The food is prepared right in front of you, and with the freshest ingredients. The shwarma is fantastic, as is the falafel, and the pita. The family that owns it is always friendly and kind. The restaurant is small and kind of easy to drive by, but don't! It's not sketchy or run down at all.
(5)Uma P.
Great food, loving service. Don't be fooled by external appearances. The building looks like a shack - but once you go in and try the food, you'll be a fan for life!
(5)John O.
I have been in the market looking for some good Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food. I decided to hit up Falafel king seeing as though all the reviews were very good. I ordered the Falafel sandwich. It was about $8 I recall and it was ...pretty standard for Falafel (how hard is it to screw up fried chickpeas)? I wasn't really "wow'ed," but being from California I've been spoiled by "knock your socks off good" MIddle Eastern food. There was no restroom to wash my hands in (that I saw). Minus one star. It wasn't super clean and there is "0" ambience here. Nothing really to look at here other than Gambell street...it is obviously a family run joint. Minus one star. If you're in the mood for a quick bite of Middle Eastern food (appears owners are from Israel) then this is a decent spot. Like much in Alaska, food is not cheap.
(3)michele d.
I love my falafel!! This joint rocks. It's tiny, so be prepared to eat in your car if no seats are available inside. Or just take it home or to work. They usually have some seating outside but the weather's been so shi**y this summer, been kinda pointless. But if you have a hankering for authentic middle eastern food, be it falafel, shwarma, and even baklava, then go here. Anchorage completely lacks in the middle eastern food establishments department, so this is a diamond amongst the rubble.
(5)Laura B.
I have been meaning to go here for years and finally got prodded by a friend of mine. Wow, I can't believe I've missed out on food this awesome for that long. I went in well after the lunch crowd on the way to another errand. The lady running (and owning) the place was SO SWEET! We chatted while she made my crazy, huge shawarma. Holy cow! When I saw how much she put on the grill I was wondering if she was making on for herself at the same time. Nope! All for me. I've never seen so much packed into a pita in my life. I was starving and I couldn't even eat it all. So much meat!! The veg was truly just for garnish unlike shawarma I've had before that was more than half veg with a bit of meat. Not here! I've never like the shawarma I've had before so I went with the tough sell on my first visit and was sold completely. Can't wait to go back later this week and try the falafel!
(5)Tyler J.
It's so worth every penny! All 999 of them. Avi's Schwarma is freaking hand made! Why? Because he wants you to be happy, that's why! This man is obsessed with really good Falafel and Middle Eastern food. I can't tell you how he does it, but every meal is divine. Bring cash! Use 10th ave to avoid the one way street dance you have to do to get there. And for the love of Yahweh, call ahead at lunch time so you skip to the front of line and be that much closer to the miracle he produces. Order anything, you will love it.
(5)Sean G.
Very very good. For a place that has 4 tables inside and is very small it packs an amazing punch. Very authentic so know that going in. That makes it taste even better!
(5)Shruti N.
Amazing falafel and schwarma...but save room for baklava too!!! Loved that this place was so small...it really felt eating in someone's kitchen.
(5)Worldwide T.
Best Falafel in Anchorage. Falafel balls are made to order and the ingredients are very fresh. French fries are also made to order and seem very fresh. Owners are very nice. They also have live tv from Israel. I would defiantly recommend Falafel King.
(5)Jason J.
Can't say I've eaten this type of food lots of other places, but I've never left here anything other than satisfied and impressed. Delicious!
(5)Laura O.
Tiny tiny place but so good! Order your food, eat, and pay after. I had the falafel and it was huge, fresh, and full of flavor. Only down size is the wait and size of the place, but hey, if you want real falafel, you wait for it.
(5)Geordie B C.
I kept reading the recent raving reviews for Falafel King, on Gambell and 9th, so I had to try it. I've never been a huge fan of falafel or hummus for that matter but I tried their signature pita. I bet if I loved falafel and hummus, I would have loved the sandwich. I did enjoy the pickles, cabbage and tomatoes and sauce that was in it! What I really liked and what hasn't been mentioned was the baklava. Best Baklava since I left Detroit 20 years ago! Perfect blend of spices and not too dang sweet - still rich and lovely. $2.50 for a slice which is a bargain. AND the person waiting on me was the husband - he was super nice too!
(4)Dharani R.
Fantastic service and huge portions of food, all made from scratch (even the fries) as soon as the order is placed. The exterior of the building is rather sketchy, but the food is definitely worth it!
(4)Jon S.
Fantastic Falafel! Made to order. Small place with a big heart, very friendly owner.
(5)Jeannette L.
I definitely did not expect to find an excellent falafel place in Alaska. I daresay Falafel King is on par with Mamoun's in NYC/New Haven, Conn., and the fact that it's in Alaska puts it over the top. When this place first opened I went there every day for a week, bringing a different friend with me each time. The Israeli family that runs this place is incredibly friendly and very generous with their yummy falafel. The falafel itself is subtly crisp on the outside with just the right mealiness in the middle and comes straight out of the fryer. My one complaint is that they were making them a little too spicy for a while, but eventually toned it back down. The restaurant is tiny, so it's standing room only unless you're lucky enough to snag one of the 3-4 stools at the window counter. Plan to do takeout.
(4)Sarah V.
While the owner IS super nice, I wasn't too happy with the food. Granted, I had high expectations after reading all the high reviews, but the quality of my meat was pretty rough and I thought the falafel was really lacking in flavor... not to mention the tahini sauce tasted straight out of a jar (nothing special). I will say the bread was good... but that's about it.
(2)Garrett P.
Very good falafel in a tiny, 10 seat, israeli tv watching establishment nestled between car dealerships and grocery stores. Homemade falafel's stuffed into a soft warm pita pocket filled with fresh tomato, cucumber, cabbage and tahini. You will be very full and likely satisfied. Crazy, but I was craving french fries in my falafel, which is a staple some places, not others. The woman who owns the King is a doll. I like her and will return.
(3)Richard N.
I loved it from the first bites. Shwarma, Shwarma Shwarma !!! On a day off from school we took our daughter there for lunch as we had been many times before and knew from her love of Gyro's she would dig the food here and she was happy happy. For a falafel, I was ok that's nice but not like wow. Well here I get wow. From reading the reviews I gotta get the Baklava now. I usually am not a dessert guy, my dessert is a good bourbon and water at the end of a day.
(5)Craig L.
WE DID IT! We actually found the Falafel King open when we drove past and it was everything and more that we expected. A Mom and Pop Middle Eastern (Pop wasn't around) but the Mom treated us like family from the second we walked in the door. She is very proud of her cooking and a very pleasant lady. With only three tables and her cooking 6 feet away, it's got a very quirky vibe. The food came quickly and was excellent. We had a number of dishes and everything was very fresh. There is a note on the menu, almost apologetic in that their pita bread is made in the morning but everything else is made to order. Fresh pita (which they sell to take home)! These folks need some investors to expand, upscale the place, and make some mint. In the meantime...we'll be back.
(4)Thomas G.
Great place for middle eastern food here in Anchorage. I wish they would expand into a full service restaurant in the future so there would be a place that I could get all sorts of kosher/halal dishes. Everything here is made to order, so what you get is hot and fresh. Sometimes this can make you wait times fairly long as it's more of a shack and can only accommodate so many people (maybe 7 or 8 at the most). Don't plan on eating inside - better to use for take out in my opinion. Also, the menu is very sparse. Don't expect to get everything you are used to in Israel and the middle east. Don't let it detract you though - they are good at what they specialize in.
(4)Shan S.
What a wonderful meal, the food is kosher. Everything homemade with fresh ingredients. The gentleman behind the counter does it all and with a smile. Tight fit inside, 4 tables and a bit of seating outside. Don't let the look of this place make you turn away. Obviously a family business with fantastic food and fantastic service.
(5)Sean E.
Falafel King is on a very short list of places in Anchorage to get falafel. Although it doesn't compete with the best of what can be had in a city with an actual Greek or Middle Eastern population, it more than meets the need in Anchorage. The sandwiches are stuffed with as much food as pita can hold, which means that careful consumption and a supply of napkins may be necessary to avoid a mess. Fortunately, the contents of the sandwiches are good enough that you'll have no objection to using your fingers to retrieve anything that's fallen out of the sandwich. Everything is made to order and thus the toppings are easy to customize. The parking lot isn't so great, especially in winter. Have fun with that.
(4)Mary-Allegra F.
Rock the Falafel! This place TRULY is the Falafel King!! Yummy, yummy, yummy!! :-) My one critique is that there have been a few falafels with too much onion for my taste...BUT...you just floss after you eat...and it's all good. I like the small, family-owned Falafel King so much...it's been the highlight of many an afternoon. Go, try it, you'll love it!
(5)Heidi D.
This place is just tasty, and the family that owns it are wonderfully nice people. The falafel is crispy and delicious, and the baklava is heaven. And I'm a fan of any place where the woman at the counter says, "What do you want, baby?" and "Have a nice day, baby." It's like getting food from my own mom.
(5)Lea G.
Oh this was so good. Takes a little while since they make everything when you order it, totally worth the wait. Huge portions I couldn't finish my falafel in one sitting.
(4)Andy S.
This place was pretty good. Tiny spot though. The shawarna was great. Going on Saturday's might be better cuz the lady gives more than the old dood. Only bad thing is that it's cash only.
(4)Brenda M.
After hearing how good falafel king was, I had to try it. I kept missing opportunities to go there for 5 months. I was finally within walking distance and I went. There is a sign that says "cash only" so I had to leave to find an atm. Came back, and got my falafel. It comes with (in order) hummus, 4 falafel balls, cabbage, tomato, pickles, tahini, 2 more falafel balls, and more tahini. I might be missing something. For its price, you get a lot of food packed in a pita! It's fresh, creamy, crunchy, hot and cold at the same time. The lady who made it for me kept calling me "mama", something my late grandmother called me, and that really comforted me. Considering it was my first time eating one, it was a truly great experience and it won't be the last time I go there. But enough of my personal experience, go to falafel king!
(5)Benjamin H.
One of my favorite places to grab a quick lunch. Falafel here is just amazing. Friendly staff too. Baklava is to die for. Thanks for Falafel King for adding a bit more variety to Anchorage. Please open up another store near the U-Med district. Maybe you could call it "Falafel Queen".
(5)Alan N.
A very small mom and pop middle eastern restaurant that I found on yelp. The lady running the place was very sweet and cooked my chicken plate with just the right amount of spiciness. The baklava was really tasty also. The hummus was okay, but not the best I've ever had. Overall I give it a 3.5, but I didn't want to slam them with a 3 because they were better than that. Not worth a huge trip, but if you're in the area and you're hungry, it's pretty darn good. I didn't try the falafel, but I saw her frying up some for someone and they looked really tasty.
(4)Monique A.
I really like this place. They have good falafels and you will likely take them togo since there is hardly any seating. I usually grab a couple during the summer for a picnic.
(4)Yo U.
A delightful woman runs this establishment. She serves up very generous portions of food and she takes great care of her customers. I'm not the biggest shawarma fan, so I'm also not the right person to be authoring this review. I appreciated the generous size of my sandwich, but I need to work on my shawarma appreciation. After a small tip, a sandwich and a soft drink came to a little over $13. Eeep! These Anchorage prices are going to be the end of me. :-)
(3)S C.
These guys know how to make some mean falafel! Awesome!!!
(5)TEENA A.
I read all the great reviews and decided to try it. I've driven by it many times but don't let the exterior fool you! Inside is clean. Busy little place. The food is great! I'll be going back =)
(4)Trey S.
Hands down, my favorite spot in town. i drive all the way from Eagle River just to eat here. In addition to it's name-sake they also offer schnitzel and schwarma. I cannot stress how packed full these sandwiches are and everything is made fresh in-house.
(5)Henry S.
Just visiting for a few days, and stumbling around in the rain, I found this haven. The falafel itself is amazing -- crispy and light outside, fresh flavorful and green on the inside. Tahini is solid. Portions are giant. And the vibe is perfect, all thanks to the woman behind the counter who is also the owner, and also could double as my grandmother. This spot is a gem.
(5)SK L.
CLOSED? I went by today and either the place is closed for the season or being renovated or closed permanently.
(2)Blurr B.
delicious schwarma and hummus! falafel is pretty good too! pita bread is awesome!
(5)Cranky M.
Three of us went and we all got shwarma and baklava. The man working was extremely nice- he even gave my son free pita and hummus when I asked if I could buy a smaller portion than the tubs they were selling. He's 2 and it's one of his favorite foods, we had a flight later so buying a tub didn't really make sense. Food came out fairly quickly even though we were there during the lunch rush. I enjoyed the hot sauce by the door on my shwarma (it's goooood). The meat and veggies were good and we came hungry so I scarfed it down. I probably wouldn't have finished if I would have taken my time. The meat was well spiced and I love the crunch of the veggies. More tahini on the side was a nice touch as well. The baklava was awesome. I usually don't like nuts in desserts but this was fabulous. Overall, a very good meal, but I wouldn't expect to have many choices- or to be able to sit if you plan on eating in.
(4)Marcia A.
I love middle eastern food. Recently moved here from an area with a population of 2,000,000. There were numerous middle eastern restaurants to choose from. After having read some reviews on the falafel king's menu, and given that other middle eastern/mediterranean restaurants are basically non-existant in the area, I tried it out. I was sadly disappointed by the hummus and falafels. The pita bread was fresh though. The hummus was a clump of bean paste, essentially. It was not blended with garlic, lemon, or tahini. All of the middle eastern food stops or sit downs I've ever experienced provided their customers with a hummus that was blended with tahini, lemon and garlic. They drizzled olive oil over it and sprinkled paprika over it. There was variation on the quantities of each ingredient, but they were never eliminated. This was simply a lump of garbanzo bean paste thrown in the styrofoam plate. The falafels lacked seasoning as well and were very grainy. It's really too bad that these people who are clearly of middle eastern decent are taking advantage of the locals inability to access better middle eastern food. I don't mind the thought of spending nearly $20 for a styrofoam plate of food, if it's quality food. My baklava was not light or flaky. It had three distinct layers and should have had many. It was heavy and not fresh tasting. I will not return to the falafel king and not recommend it either.
(1)mark L.
If you haven't tried Falafel King you must. Handmade, owner run, small scale, and all things delicious stuffed into pita bread. Falafel and Garlic Chicken are my favorite topped with everything they have to offer in the relish bar. I'm not sure that one can finish a pita without sauce/fixings spilling out, so make sure you have extra napkins and a fork. Take out, drive thru, and seating for about 3 or 4 are your options for enjoying this fine establishment. Again, if you live in or are visiting Anchorage and you enjoy Mediterranean food, go to Falafel King; chances are you'll want to go back.

(5)Stephanie R.
(5)Garrett P.
(3)Laura O.
(4)Worldwide T.
Delicious!
(5)Dharani R.
(2)S C.
