Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Wonderful, clean, and nice! The manager, John, was very accommodating and kind. He seated us promptly, and gave us some soup on the house just to be nice while we were waiting for our food! The sushi was delicious, and this is definitely a place I would return to because of the great service. Definitely give it a try!

So I absolutely love Asian food and this was such a disappointment. I paid a crazy amount for delivery and the crab Rangoon was gross. Rangoon is undoubtedly my favorite dish and this was a weird consistency and just not good at all. The delivery driver also made me tell her how to get to my dorm room for about 20 minutes. Overall not a pleasant experience at all

We came here yesterday during lunch and it was not busy at all, which was good for us! We were seated immediately, and our food came out fast. There were three of us, and we split 6 rolls total between us. I know our first round included the Vegas roll, rainbow, and playboy. We loved the Vegas roll the most, but thought it was the playboy when we ordered our second round, but we were wrong. No big deal, we still enjoyed the rolls, but if you like tempura then I have to say this might be the best Vegas roll I've ever ordered. The rolls that were not tempura on the outside didn't seem to hold together well, so they definitely need to work on making the rolls tighter, but they were all really great! Our server had a bit of an attitude with us, but whatever, that's her issue. She still made sure our glasses were full and was quick to serve us our food.

Worst sushi I have ever had, the rice was so mushy, and the fish so bland. The service was even worse though, we had a different server coming up every minute pressuring us to order as soon as possible. Their menus were sticky we couldn't turn the pages, makes me question their kitchen cleanliness.
(1)Nate B.
Not impressed at all with anything we ordered. I had the egg drop soup and all you can eat sushi. The soup was super gross so I only ate probably 2 bites. The waiter took a while to serves us every time and they limit you to 2 rolls or person at a time. When you try and order more for the next round it takes a while to get your food. The rolls didn't have super fresh fish and they all tasted pretty bland.
(2)Connor R.
I had the General Tso's chicken and loved it. The bento box I got it in was huge! There was so much food and everything was awesome. Fried rice was good. Finally some good Chinese food on Provo. Fast friendly service as well.
(5)Dave B.
Sometimes I need cheap sushi. Wild Ginger fits the bill for me. The staff is really nice; I'm always offered complimentary wanton or egg drop soup etc. While this is not the highest quality sushi, it's close, it's inexpensive and I feel like the ingredients are well presented and fresh. If you come here expecting coast quality sushi then you'll be disappointed; but let's be real this is Utah.

This pains me because I wanted to love this place. Went there on a work lunch and had the manager / owner decide what to make for us. 1. Sushi: small slices, rough cut, teeny tiny amount of rice and fish . . . just okay. 2. Honey walnut shrimp was great. Great flavors. 3. Fish soup was . . . fishy, as though it had been sitting out for too long. 4. The orange chicken was fairly bland, cold, and overly breaded. 5. The beans were good, crisp and seasoned well. 6. Great crap wontons. 7. The fried rice was cold as well. Good, friendly people, but a mostly underwhelming experience. I'm giving them 3 stars instead of 2 because of the service, and I will come back to see if I got here on an off day.
(3)Gates J.
My husband and I both enjoy sushi so we stopped in to try their all you can eat sushi and we both ended up sick. The sushi is terrible and the soy sauce tastes like its watered down. I would skip this place. Find somewhere else to get your sushi fix
(1)Cameron S.
The sushi was was pretty good the first time we went, but the second and third time it was total garbage. The rice was very crunchy and hard they were very slow on service and overall it tasted worst then the first time we went. My recommendation is to find a better place to get sushi....
(1)Larisa S.
Best hidden sushi place ever!! Its so sweet everything is super clean and the costumer service is excellent. Been coming here for over 2 years. I have never had a negative experience. The sushi is at least 4 star but the best I have had in Utah county. Would recommend it to anyone.
(5)Jay E.
I'm sorry. I had read the mixed reviews, and so I decided to see for myself. It wasn't great. My group had the AYCE sushi, and it was mediocre. The sushi wasn't very fresh, and it was very thinly sliced. The first few rolls that we got were very dry, with no sauce on them at all. I thought, "oh, maybe they are more traditional." The next few rolls were absolutely drenched. I mean, the fish almost revived themselves from swimming that much. (Keep in mind, we didn't mention anything to anybody about the sushi being dry or anything) So, on again off again consistency, and very mediocre fish. Copious amounts of sesame seeds garnished everything, and one roll, I'm not kidding, seemed like it was drizzled with some sort of chocolate sauce. Yuck. I gave it two stars because I want to believe that maybe it was just an off night. The decor of the place is pleasant, well-lit, lively. And the wonton soup was pretty good. Also, someone else in our group had a regular dish, (General Tso's Chicken) and said it was okay. So maybe try them out for traditional Chinese, but hard pass on the sushi.

We've been searching for a go-to Chinese place here in Provo, and unfortunately we still haven't found it. Ordering take-out online was a big plus, and the staff was very friendly when we picked it up. 1. The Steamed and Fried dumplings were quite tasty. The dipping sauce was pretty potent, but not a big deal. 2. The Wonton Soup had good wontons (I assume the same as the dumplings), and the broth was very rich, but the broth tasted a little ... off. Can't put my finger on it, but I didn't want to slurp it up. 3. The Chicken Lo Mein was indedible. One bite from everyone was all it took to reach consensus that it was frankly disgusting. We couldn't decide if it tasted like it had been cooked in an unwashed pan, or if the noodles had just come out of years in the deepest, darkest pantry. Whatever the case, it was truly awful. We desperately wanted this place to be good, and even considered giving it another shot, but after sleeping on it, the Lo Mein was just SO bad, I can't go back.

I wish I could say that I had a good experience at Wild Ginger. I really wanted to like it. The food was average(we ordered the Triple Delight House Special and 4 special rolls). The ingredients in the sushi did not seem fresh or flavorful and the House Special had some good flavor but was overall only okay. The service was excellent in the beginning, but started to drop exponentially from then on. Our waiter said that he would bring the both of us soups to accompany our House Special(the menu says that House Special dishes come with rice and soup). However, when we got the bill(which we had to ask for after we realized that nobody noticed that we had finished eating for 10 minutes), they charged us for the second soup. When we asked them about it, they said that we should have realized that the House Special only comes with 1 soup serving and that the price for soup is listed on the menu, so the overcharge was our fault. They would not remove the charge for the soup even after we explained that the waiter did not tell us that the second soup would be extra. I don't think that we'll be returning here.

Q: What's Japanese for "Meh?" A: Wild Ginger. We were seated immediately, and should have been skeptical since we were the only two there on a weekday at 12:30 p.m. Hubby and I both ordered their AYCE sushi lunch. For $15 per person, you can order select rolls from their confusing menu - 2 rolls at a time. And you must eat everything, or they'll charge you full price for the roll you didn't finish. Menu sections are labeled "A," "B," "C" etc. Only certain sections apply, but then it says something different in other areas of the menu. Their house specialty rolls are excepted on the AYCE special. Whatever. Our server was a raging Low-Talker, or perhaps she suffered from clinical shyness. She barely spoke, and when she did we couldn't understand a single thing she said. She wouldn't look us in the eye, nor respond to questions at all. It was more than a little creepy, and eventually just got old. I was freezing, so I ordered a hot green tea, which came with a cup of cold water, and one measly Western Family tea bag that appeared to have been used for car repair or dragon slaying. It was a mess. I asked her for another, and the second bag looked exactly the same. At that point, I gave up. The sushi was ... not great. To be honest, there was only one roll we just couldn't stomach. All the others tasted okay. But the after-effects were less than zesty. We tried the Godzilla, Spicy Tuna, Tempura Shrimp, and several other rolls that I can't remember. Nothing was delicious, or attractive. They evidently don't believe in the theory that you eat with your eyes first. Their plating was less impressive than my homemade sushi, which is gone before I lay the plate down, so why bother making it pretty? Overall, not impressed at all; particularly not impressed later that afternoon when we both could still taste it thanks to the wicked bounce-back indigestion. Not to worry; it was nothing a little Pepto didn't take care of in a couple of hours. This was definitely a one-and-done visit.
(2)Kristine S.
We waited 10 minutes and nobody sat us. They even seated a group that came in after us and still didn't seat us. We even went up to the lady seating everyone and she looked at us then walked back in the kitchen. I told another lady we had been waiting to be seated and she literally stared at us. We walked out and will never come here again. They were disrespectful and rude.
(1)Jason S.
We were seated fast, but it took A LONG TIME for the waitress to come and get our second and third rounds of sushi. Price was fair, and though they deviated quite a bit on many of their roles, everything we ate was great.
(3)wai y.
Very place and close to Provo downtown! Very clean Chinese restaurant. You can eat traditional "Hu Nan" Chinese food and all you can eat sushi!
(5)Chelsea J.
I love their delivery service. Last night was my first time going to the restaurant, and probably the last time. The staff at Wild Ginger is the most incompetent servers I have ever seen. When we sat down they just assumed that we wanted sushi, we came for Chinese food. It took another 10 minutes before the server came back to switch out menus. When we finally ordered it took over a half hour to bring out our pot-stickers, they also did not bring out utensils. Another 20 minutes passed before we were able to flag down a server to bring us some. Another 30 minutes later we got our main course. Our drinks were not filled. Not to mention two other waiters were fighting over giving a customer the wrong order while we were eating. Worst service I have ever had. I'll stick to their delivery, good food, worse service ever.

I was only introduced to sushi a year ago. This is my favorite place for sushi. Other reviews say it wasn't fresh but every time I've been here (once or twice a month) it IS fresh. I've eaten here many times and I had a variety if things. The reason I don't give them 5 stars is because their egg drop soup has tomatoes in it which is weird and makes it taste like...not egg drop soup. And the other food on the menu, that is not sushi, is just Unmemorable, it's ok...I think.
(4)Nick W.
The pricing here is good, but it should come with a disclaimer. The proportion of rice to fish/other ingredients in their rolls is outrageous. I basically paid $15 for all you can eat steamed rice. And to top it all off, the little fish that I had, was not the best I've had
(2)Paul E.
Yummy sushi - they give you a ton. Their "all you can eat" dinner was around 20$, and they don't skimp on the quality or quantity.
(4)John W.
This place is great! I have no idea what all the low reviews are about. Is this place a gourmet sushi place? No. It's not supposed to be. It's a middle end sushi place which definitely is worth visiting! We loved the things we had here. The Philadelphia was one of my favorites. Of course the California roll is delicious as always, then the veggie roll was a surprisingly tasty roll. Definitely recommend this place. Delicious food, nice people waiting on you, great experience. :) My favorite however is definitely the crispy California roll. It's fried in tempura. Amazingly delicious. :) I highly highly recommend this place.
(5)Kaitlyn W.
Got sesame chicken lunch special and spicy crunch sushi roll. Both were seriously gross. So disappointed. I love me some cheap Chinese too, so I wasn't expecting much. The chicken did not taste like chicken. The sauce had great flavor but it was not good enough to mask the "chicken" below. The sushi was ok at best. The avocado inside was brown and the shrimp was so hard/chewy it always ended up being the last thing in my mouth. Service was quick for take out but I will not be coming back sadly.

I liked Sushi Ya better. The sushi rice here at Wild Ginger was really good comparing to most other AYCE but that's about it. The spider roll is also part of the AYCE menu and even that wasn't too great since it doesnt have much of the real crab and it got fake crab in it.....I mean fake crab? In the spider roll? The chefs and waitress were very friendly but some of their chefs have no sushi experience so it's a bit of a gamble when it comes to who makes your rolls. We've had rolls that were packed with rice and rolls that were good, again....it's a gamble. Another thing that I find inconvenient though... they have you mark the menu and make you rolls that you put an X on, but sometimes they will miss a roll or two on your order and you have to ask again so this method isn't the best. It's average, if you aren't setting your expectation high. And if you want real sushi, then obviously avoid this place.
(3)Carmen B.
So disappointed. My husband and I enjoy good sushi, and decided to stop here for lunch on a Saturday, and try it. I'm not saying I'm an expert on sushi, but we've eaten at quite a few places around Salt Lake and Utah counties. I was hopeful when I saw the menu, and that it included some of my favorites from my favorite sushi place (Sushi Ya), even though there we only 2 people there eating when we went in. After the first bite, I didn't even know what to do. It was a tempura shrimp roll, and absolutely flavorless. I rarely eat soy sauce with my sushi, but had to with this to give it flavor. The others were the same. It seemed like there was a lot of rice on the outside, except for the Godzilla roll, which was half the size of a normal roll. When we did taste the fish, it tasted dirty, like a fish pond that just sits stagnant most of the time. I do not usually like fish, but like sushi because it usually doesn't taste fishy. The Unagi and other nagiri rolls were the same. The Unagi did not taste like eel. My husband did say the mussels were cooked properly, and acceptable. They doused several of our rolls in eel sauce, which is usually my favorite, but I couldn't even taste that. The service was alright. We sat at the bar, and had our sushi quickly, and they refilled our drinks and gave us extra ginger when we asked for some. We did get fortune cookies at the end, too. Overall, very disappointed, and will not be returning. I would suggest driving a few extra minutes up to Sushi Ya on University Parkway--same All You Can Eat prices, same selection, better flavors.
(1)David K.
My wife and I were underwhelmed. We had dumplings, chicken lo mein, and a couple sushi rolls (tornado and another), and all suffered from a conspicuous lack of flavor. It wasn't terrible, though. It just wasn't something we need to go back to. The building itself has a clean, cool vibe to it, and the service was nice and very prompt.
(3)Craig L.
I will not give this place another try. Sushi was horrible. The rice was soggy and fish old. You know when you have the stinky raw fish smell in your mouth. Yuk! The soy sauce was watered down and had an odd color to it. Didn't taste right. Pass on the all you can eat sushi. The older Asian gentleman was very nice and caught me searching around for our server for more water. He came right over to help. That's where the 2 stars came from and saved it from a measly 1 star rating.
(2)Angela D.
I usually really like this place, it's one of my favorite sushi spots in Provo, but today was awful. Probably the worst I've ever had. The egg drop soup was luke warm, bland and way too many tomatoes. The rolls came out, they looked fine, but the raw tuna was just mush - clearly been sitting out for way too long. I took a bite of the Godzilla roll (usually one of my favorites) and I couldn't even bring myself to swallow, I knew it was spoiled. I wanted to clear the bad taste with the ginger, but even that was bad. And I have no idea why it was pink instead of white? Just a terrible experience altogether. I'm not sure what happened to cause what used to be great food to inedible.
(2)Terry L.
Love this place! Been coming here since they opened.the owners are super friendly and will some times bring new foods to our table with a "try this,I think you'll like it."at no charge. Some of my favorites are the Philadelphia ,spicy crunch, dragon roll,Las Vegas and the Godzilla .if you like hot and sour soup they have the best in town.great place to take hungry teenagers, mine would save their money and take their friends for the all-you -can-eat sushi.also this place is super clean.
(5)Jaden S.
It's honestly not bad sushi for the price. AYCE is $18.95 at night and you can order appetizers and nigiri which was actually cold which is always a bonus. We went with a group of 9 right before a big rush of ppl files in. Lots of rolls from the C menu. I liked them all but was feeling sauced out by the end. Just ask for little less Eel sauce if you don't want a lot. The staff will do whatever you want and were willing to work with whatever we asked. So overall not the best sushi I've had, but that was my second time and it's perfect for cheap sushi in big groups
(4)Georgina F.
I've tried many sushi bars in utah county, and wild ginger is my favorite. They have decent pricing, and they give soups with your food while other sushi bars dont. Their lunch special deals are good too!
(5)Alissa R.
If you like all you can eat sushi this place is great! They have a lunch special for all you can eat for $13. I like the Philadelphia roll as well as the Godzilla roll! The people are so nice and the restaurant is clean and organized. Enjoy!
(4)Marie A.
This is my favorite all you can eat place in provo/orem. Their nigiri is huge and the rice is seasoned good. There sushi is a decent price for individual too. Nigiri is 3 to 5 dollars for one order of 2. The service is very casual but everyone is very nice and you can tell the staff really enjoys their job.
(4)Katy B.
Never tried the sushi, but I love their Chinese-American food. It's a great price and tastes far fresher than most other Chinese places I've been. We also went with a friend who lived in Hong Kong for awhile and he said the "authentic Chinese" portion of the menu seemed pretty accurate. I also love the redecoration and the service is typically friendly. As poor college students, my husband and I like to be able to eat out without breaking the bank while not having to get Wendy's. We're fans.
(5)Jacob B.
Only very slightly lower than the best sushi place around, sushi ya. This place is very good and well worth the price of all you can eat.
(5)John L.
Me and my wife love sushi and we have been to all the all-you-can-eat sushi places around the area and we have liked wild ginger the most. Their tempura sushi (dinner service) is really good. We always eat on the counter. This is a must when dealing with sushi restaurants. Just skip the middle man and order directly to the chef themselves. This way we get our food fast. Things to consider when dealing with sushi. Always sit on the counter cause you will get your food a lot fast and you are able to order more without waiting for your waiter/waitress and every sushi chef is different and so the sushi is different. Also some places are better than others in regard to what type of sushi you like. Wild Ginger had really great tempura rolls, which they don't have back in Japan. Love it! For nigiri I think Sakura might better but they do put more rice than wild ginger. For me, the fish is what im after, not the rice. I totally recommend this place. And one last thing. Consider the time and day you go. Busy days are always going to be busy. I usually go during the quite times cause the quality is so much better.
(5)Zina B.
This is the best Chinese delivery I've found in Utah county and their lunch special is a steal. The food is well seasoned and good for the price.
(4)Tyler H.
Some of the best Chinese food I've had. The sweet and sour chicken and gyouza were delicious. I highly recommend the bento boxes.
(5)Kris I.
We ate here primarily for the all-you-can-eat sushi. I know Utah is not really the best sushi place in the world but you can do better than Wild Ginger. The sushi service is EXTREMELY slow and takes for.ev.er . The sushi itself tastes old and the tempura has a funny aftertaste to it. It's not disgusting but it's not good. I'd much rather go to Sushi-Ya than Wild Ginger. The egg drop soup is flat out nasty. I don't know what is in that soup but it's neither egg nor drop. Of the 6 of us at the table, not one of us ate the soup. Yuck. The lo mein noodles were very delicious, actually. Some of the best lo mein I've had in a long time. And my husband enjoyed his General Tso's chicken. His fried rice was tasty ( I stole a sample. ) So if I went back to Wild Ginger, I would not go for sushi but for the Chinese food. The interior has come a long, LONG way from its days as Fortune Chinese Cuisine (where I used to eat at least once a week, back in my poverty stricken college days when buffet items were only $1/item in a to-go order.) It's actually kind of amazing on the inside. So, there you go. Don't get sushi. Do get lo mein. Enjoy.
(2)Trevor B.
Wild Ginger will now be a favorite Provo pit stop for me. The Golden Dragon with its delicious Japanese mayo was my favorite special roll they made. A couple of the Nigiris we liked were the Fresh Water Eel, Yellowtail, and the Escolar. The Up-Side-Down Shrimp was ok but I've had better. They made a special salmon nigiri roll for us per our waitress Amber's request that was really good, but it's not on the menu. My favorite regular roll was the Spider Roll. If you need to get a Mountain Roll, get the Utah Mountain. Come here Thurs-Sat so that you can ask Amber for that delicious Special Salmon Nigiri! :-)
(4)Jacob F.
After reading all those reviews about the all-you-can-eat sushi in this place, my friends and I went anyway. I have no idea if they improves or not but the sushi seem to be decent. It wasn't great compare to a real sushi restaurant but it was decent and edible. We went during lunch so it wasn't crowded. Sushi came quick then progressively got slower as we order another round and another. I order General Tso chicken and fried rice. It was decent. Service was sub-par. If you want to eat the sushi, go during lunch time where you can get it quicker and preferably in a small group or two. Bonus if you can sit at the counter where you'll get it directly. Go if you dare. I sincerely hope they have indeed improve since last month.
(3)Nadia K.
This is my 2nd time to have sushi buffet (dinner) there! Love their "Utah Mountain" sushi roll!! but don't quite enjoy their fried rolls, cuz they make me full easily. Their Nigiri are also quite fresh. The dinner sushi buffet costs around $18, and they don't put "too much" rice on the rolls, and nigiri. It's a good deal to get unlimited sushi when ur craving for ok-quality sushi :)
(3)James F.
I've eaten at Wild Ginger twice, once from the American-Chinese menu and once from the authentic Chinese menu. The American-Chinese is good, better than average. I have no way to judge how authentic the authentic menu really is since I've never been to China, but the food was interesting, well-prepared, and good-tasting. When I ordered from the authentic menu, the owner came out to talk about the menu and to make recommendations. We had spicy tofu with fish and lamb with cumin. Though I'm not much of a fan of American-Chinese food, if that's what I was looking for, this would be a good place to go. But if I wanted something different and good that calls itself Chinese food, this is definitely the place to eat. I haven't tried the sushi, but I would go some place else for that anyway. What makes anyone think that a Chinese restaurant would be a great place to order sushi?! Perhaps the same people who would go to a Japanese restaurant for dim sum. Sushi aside, this is a good place for what most people want from Chinese food and a very good place for something different. Good service, very clean establishment, good ambience, great prices.

This is now the best place for authentic Chinese food in Provo. A lot of the reviewers on this site are complaining about Wild Ginger's sushi. This restaurant has had the same owner (who is Chinese) for many years, and the restaurant was recently renovated and re-vamped to cater to a different/wider audience - which is why sushi and bento were added. Keep in mind that it is still primarily a Chinese restaurant. If you want good/better sushi, obviously go to a Japanese restaurant instead. That said, the Chinese food here is pretty great. The Sichuan (Szechuan) dishes are quite good and authentic. I recommend the dou ban yu (chili bean paste fish) and any lamb dish. As for Guangdong (Canton) dishes...they are not quite as finessed but still decent. I found that our 8 Treasures Tofu Hotpot (a Canton dish) was not as flavorful as it should have been, and the squid and scallops were a bit overcooked. Nonetheless, still good - and brimming with seafood, vegetables, and enoki and shiitake mushrooms. Service here is subpar. It took our waitress over 10 minutes to get us water. When our dishes started coming out (at varying times, mind you), we still didn't have chopsticks, silverware, or napkins. We asked another waitress, who gave us utensils, but I had to get the napkins myself because all of the waiters were frantic and preoccupied. Summary: superb Sichuan food, solid Chinese food in general (best and most authentic in the Provo area), lousy service/waitressing.
(4)Mikell J.
WORST sushi I have ever had! And I frequently eat sushi at various locations. The raw fish was obviously not fresh... It smelled like fish gutting station in July. The tempura rolls were obviously fried in dirty old oil used for Chinese dishes... So was technically not even legit tempura. We paid for 2 all you can eat sushi plates at 18.95 a pop and couldn't even finish the 4 rolls we ordered between us. Complained about the food but still charged full price etc. My stomach was somewhat upset after eating the little sushi I could force down. If you want sushi you can enjoy go to Shoga, happy sumo, etc. I guarantee you will regret eating here!
(1)Carol N.
I thought this would be decent since a friend of mine recommended it. It turned out to be one big disappointing experience. The fish was not fresh, the rolls came undone, the rice for the sushi was tasteless, the avocado in the sushi was hard. I tried their non sushi stuff once before and it was great. Just don't waste your money on the sushi.

I used to go here back when it was a dollar Chinese place, and for a couple of bucks, who would complain? Well, now I can. I went to Wild Ginger a few weeks ago and had a hilariously bad experience. I was with a Thai co-worker who came here for the all you can eat sushi. Before ordering I asked the server (I think it was the owner's daughter) what was good on the menu. She said, "Oh, different people like different thing". I asked what most people liked and the replay was, "Oh, some people like hot, some don't, some people like raw fish, some don't". After realizing that there was no hope I chose Sesame Chicken which is usually a safe bet. Now it's my Thai friend's turn to order. Trying to be helpful, I asked what some of the popular sushi rolls were.....no luck. So my friend circled like 5 of them on the menu. She didn't understand that you were supposed to just order one roll at a time and then you had to eat all of it before getting another. So one of the 5 rolls was randomly delivered to our table. My Thai friend, wanting to get her money's worth, ate all of the "good" stuff in the roll, leaving a big pile of rice, and asked for the next roll to be brought out. Everything went down hill from here, the server who was speaking in broken Chinese English was trying to explain to my friend who was speaking in broken Thai English that you had to finish all of the rice before the next roll was to be brought out. None the less, round two of the rolls were delivered to our table. No sooner than it had arrived that the owner came out with menu in hand to make sure all of the rules and regs of the all you can eat sushi were pointed out in great detail to my Thai friend, "No more sushi until eat all rice!". Under normal circumstances, which these weren't, this would seem incredibly rude and definitely not something becoming of a business owner. All we could do after the owner left the table was just look at each other, and laugh. I apologize if this was not review of the food but rather a story of unbelievably bad service. I don't care what country you come from or how good your food is. Don't ever insult one of your customers! Needless to say we will never be returning to Wild Ginger.

I have been to all you can eat for lunch a few times and have enjoyed it. It isn't the best, but it delivers, and the service has always been incredible. Out of Wild Ginger's all you can eat and Sushi Ya's up in Orem, I would definitely go to Wild Ginger, it's a little fresher and the environment is cleaner and nicer.

Horrible sushi place. I would suggest going to SushiYa instead. Here are my reasons why: -the rolls are the same but is at Wild Ginger, the rolls have less sauce and has what I felt were less-quality meat/ingredients -Wild Ginger rolls are more expensive than SushiYa for the same or for a higher price -service is horrible: they're all Chinese and you can't communicate with them. And most importantly, in terms of service... I went as a group of ~15 people and unaware of what was happening, I was waiting for the waitresses to come by to ask for my order. I was never asked what my order was and they assumed I was getting all you can eat. I did not want to eat and was there simply for the meeting. In the meantime, they handed out miso soups and thinking it was just a complimentary dish. Towards the end, one of the male workers came by with a very rude attitude and asked if I was eating and I said no.... No one got my order and so I couldn't tell anyone that I was not eating. He retorted by saying, "I would've charged you if you didn't say anything..." Then as I was leaving he proceeded to charge me 1.34 for less than a cup of miso soup.. I was so appalled. If you want to have some good sushi, go elsewhere. Place is fancy, but overpriced and service is so bad.

I've only been once, but I want to go again. I can't compare it to other Chinese places in Provo because I haven't been to any except Panda Express (always knowing that I am NOT eating Chinese food when I go there). My husband and I went when I was craving good Chinese food. We didn't think we'd find any, but this place had just opened up down the street and we could walk there so we tried it. There are 2 menus, 3 if you count the sushi menu but I'm not going to review that. The first menu is the typical menu that you expect to see at every Chinese restaurant. It has all the familiar items like Beef with Broccoli, Sweet and Sour chicken, Pan Fried Noodles, etc. I ordered the Cashew Chicken off this menu. There is also an "authentic Chinese" menu. Even though I was raised in a Hawaiian-Chinese household, I don't claim to know authentic Chinese food without my mom telling me it is. For what it is worth, the items on the menu don't really have names but are more a description of what is in the dish. Sounds foreign enough, though none of it sounded like things I had eaten growing up. I have my suspicions that it is Szechuan cuisine that is on the Authentic menu due to the number of spicy items but like I said, don't quote me on it, I'll eat here again with my Chinese grandmother and then tell you. The service was alright, we never felt like we needed more attention. (probably about 3 stars for service) The food came out quickly and was nice and hot when it arrived. I was pleased with my dish (cashew chicken). The sauce had flavor but it was a light sauce that allowed the flavors of the vegetables and the chicken to come through as well. It was definitely one of the better cashew chicken dishes I've had in my lifetime. Prices also seemed reasonable, though I feel like if you really ate family style here, like you're supposed to, portions could be lacking depending on the size of your family. For one person though, its a perfect portion and if everyone ordered one dish each to share, you would probably also be fine.

This is by far the best Chinese food you can find in Utah County. I've tried them all and Wild Ginger is not only clean but also affordable. The portions are large and the dishes aren't smothered in deep fry batter. I'd recommend the General Tso's (spicy) and the Sesame Chicken (if you're not into spicy). Dishes come with your choice of soup and fried/white rice. ***Much better if you eat it there and ask for extra crispy*** I won't comment on the sushi, but I will emphasize that this is a CHINESE food restaurant, so take that into consideration. Patronize this place. Its probably one of the few deserving establishments on the University strip.

Great sushi, Phili roll and california crunch were delicious. Inside was clean modern and sleek, very nice decor. Service was a little confused, had 3 different waitress come and ask the same questions.

I've been here several times with family, as a post-priesthood session tradition, and we loved the all you can eat sushi. With 6 men, we never had a problem not finishing it all, we really liked it. Try the Las Vegas roll, Texas Crunch, and Orange Julius. HOWEVER, this time around, the service was absolutely TERRIBLE. My family wasn't in town this time so as friend and I brought out wives. Keep in mind this is the same exact weekend every 6 months that we go. We were sat quickly, but then had to wait nearly 30 minutes to place our order. A younger man walked by our table several times and I kept telling him we were ready to order. He would look at me, nod his head, then move on. Finally a woman came to take our order and it was placed. It took A long time for our order to arrive. My wife, not much of a sushi girl, tried the chicken noodle soup and my egg drop soup, and neither one of us ate more than one bite of each, they weren't that great. Our sushi rolls tasted great (to me, and I'm not the most avid sushi guy) and my wife even enjoyed a bite and I placed another order. It arrived 45 minutes later, AFTER we had to call someone over to refill our drinks and remind them. It finally arrived, and my friend received his wrong order. He isn't the greatest raw fish fan, and he received one with raw fish that he didn't order. We couldn't resolve this because we didn't see another server come by for another 30 minutes. When they finally came by, it was to berate my wife in broken English for eating one bite of my rolls and say that they were going to charge us for another roll. I understand the rule of no sharing, but it was my wife's first time trying sushi, I'm not going to order a whole one for her that she won't like. We then told her of the terrible service we experienced and the wrong orders we had received, which she ignored and kept saying she was going to charge us extra. An older man, who I assume was the owner or manager, who spoke much better english came and heard us out and apologized, explaining it was a busy night and took care of the extra costs. Summary: in 2 hours I only ate four rolls of sushi. And I'm a big guy, so that didn't satisfy me. Both this friend and I work at Tucanos, a high traffic and fast pace restaurant in Provo, so we understand that service can be slower on busy nights. But this was terrible. Had I given this bad of service I would lose my job. Sushi was good, service was horrendous. You know that feeling when you recommend a movie to a friend, telling them it's hilarious, awesome, etc., and they don't enjoy it at all? It's a little embarrassing, That was how I felt this night. The sushi was good enough that we would've had a good experience still had we not waited so long to be served and had orders wrong, but it just made it a terrible night and we left very unhappy and annoyed customers.

I went in to try the all you can eat sushi. It was not good at all. The person that I was with agreed, however he did say that he had been there once before and that it was much better then. So, Maybe we just ate there on a bad day. But since there are other choices out there I probably won't go back, at least not for sushi.

After driving by Wild Ginger and trying to look up reviews for it multiple times on Yelp, I decided to be brave and go in blind. A little history about the place: Wild Ginger recently opened in the building that Fortune Chinese used to be. It is the same owner, but with a new vision. He redesigned the restaurant to move away from the cheap "Americanized Chinese" food that Fortune Chinese used to feature to a fresher, more accurate depiction of Japanese and Chinese cuisine. This is reflected in the restaurant's design--what used to be dingy and dirty is now clean, nicely decorated, and has a nice feel to it. They have a very extensive menu of both Chinese and Japanese dishes--almost too many to choose from. Eventually, the owner would like to expand their menu to include dishes from other Asian countries. But the main reason we went there was for the all-you-can-eat sushi. I have been frequenting my favorite AYCE sushi place, Sushi Ya on State Street, for many years, but I wanted to see if this place could hold its own in terms of flavor and value. As such, I can only evaluate the sushi, and I will probably be returning to try a smattering of their other dishes. For dinner, their AYCE sushi was $18.99 per person--the same price as Sushi Ya. I really liked their tempura-dipped sushi much more than Sushi Ya's--it was very lightly battered but provided the perfect crunch. I normally try to avoid more than one or two tempura-dipped rolls because they are so heavy, but Wild Ginger got it right. Their Godzilla was better than Sushi Ya's in that it was perfectly tempura-dipped and it also had a little bit more zing to it. The Crystal Shrimp roll was probably my favorite, so I'm assuming that the other Crystal Shrimp rolls are good too. I also liked the Utah Mountain and Playboy rolls. The Las Vegas roll was pleasantly surprising (I usually don't order the Vegas, but it was pretty dang good). The Rainbow was alright. I personally do not like "spicy tuna"--which is really tuna ground up and mixed with mayo and spice--but I tried a bit of my friend's after he mentioned that it was bland. You could barely taste any mayo or spice. There was a little kick to it, but no sign of mayo (which is better tasting and better for you, in my opinion). Another thing that stood out to me was their eel sauce. It was okay, but it really didn't do it for me. It didn't have enough flavor or sweetness, and for me, eel sauce is the deciding factor between a roll being over-the-top delicious or just bleh. Another thing worth mentioning is that if you like nigiri, Wild Ginger is the place to go. Usually, AYCE sushi places load the rolls up with as much rice as they can to fill you up as quickly as possible--nigiri being no exception. In all honesty, there was not that much rice accompanying the fish, almost bordering not enough. To me, this is the way nigiri should be; the flavor of the fish should be the primary thing that you are tasting, with the rice complimenting that flavor--not the other way around. The service was a little bit shoddy--a few times they brought our paper back with some sushi and completely missed two or three of the rolls we ordered (for those that aren't familiar, each diner has a sheet where they can choose which rolls they want. Your order comes back all in one shot and they bring you the paper back to fill out again). All in all, give this place a shot if you aren't overly picky with your sushi. I probably wouldn't come back here for AYCE sushi again, but the place was decently full on a Friday night, so I'd probably give its other dishes a shot. If the owner really is planning to expand the menu to encompass other Asian cultures, I hope that people continue to go here for the sake of bringing more variety of Asian dishes to Provo.

I don't like giving such low ratings to places, but this restaurant was awful. The service was not good, and I'm actually pretty tolerant of bad service. We actually had to throw cash down and leave because we Waited so long for someone to even walk by to pay. Then they immediately ran after us like we were dining and dashing (so they were attentive enough for that). Keep in mind that there were literally 1-3 other tables there? Maybe closer to 2. Maybe they were short-staffed but even short staffed it was really bad (our server could have been making the sushi herself and it still seemed slow and un-attentive) The food was not good. I absolutely love sushi and this was hard to eat. The sauces were maybe too liquidy? Even the soy sauce didn't taste right. I felt like I had wasted my money to be honest. I will never go back there. Again, I feel bad, but this place cannot last long. My friend says she'll eat the Fuji roll(?), but even if my friends were going here I would MAYBE get a water but not order. It wouldn't be worth it to me.

This is our favorite place for Chinese food. They do some great authentic dishes like the cumin lamb and the eggplant dish. The sushi is always a great deal! We come for lunch and never have to wait.

This place is okay! I had the spicy tuna roll (not spicy), spicy crab roll (even less spicey), soft shell crab (which was good) and some nagiri. The rolls were not exactly the tightest and was not excited about the salmon negiri. The salmon was cut in a way it was starting to seperate and actually fell off the rice. Maybe it was somebody new making the sushi, who knows!

I'm rating based on the sushi. I was in the mood for sushi, and was informed that this place had good reviews. Little did I know that the good reviews were for their Chinese food. Right when I walked in I was struck by the worst smell of what appeared to be rotten seaweed. And that smell was there the whole time. The location was clean enough and looked nice, but that smell was very offsetting. As for the food, I just wanted to try a couple of rolls before I made any commitments to getting more. I was told by the waitress that soup cane with the sushi, so I ordered the miso, and my sisters got the egg drop. They liked their egg drop soup. I didn't try it. I liked the miso well enough until I got to the pieces of seaweed. I couldn't tell if the seaweed was actually rotten or if my mind was just messing with me because of the smell. Either way, I couldn't finish the soup. (And I should mention I was hungry because I had not eaten all day, and even if I'm full I never leave food) As for the sushi I orderd for my sisters and I because they don't know sushi. I ordered the spider roll, an old standby for me, and another called the spicy crunchy or something like that. I had a hard time eating the spider roll; something about it was off. I couldn't stomach more than a couple of pieces. My sisters thought it was good, but as previously stated, they don't know what they're talking about. The spicy crunchy was a tempura fried roll. As mentioned in some other comments, their tempura sucks. It tasted Chinese. It was the same texture and flavor that you would expect to find on a fried prawn at a Chinese restaurant. The spicy sauce on it was exactly like a sweet and sour sauce that had some chili flakes in it. As for the contents of the roll, at best they were mediocre. In short it was terrible and I'll never go back there for sushi.

Wonderful food, atmosphere and management! We were very happy with each delicious item that we had: pan fried dumplings (best we've had in a restaurant and we live in Seattle), sesame chicken (very meaty and not too sweet). My sisters had the 8 Treasure and a chow mein dish....soo amazingly good! They've actually tried alot of Chinese restaurants in Utah, including the Salt Lake City area, and like this one the best. Thank you so much for making our experience there exceptional. We'll be back!
