Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Gloria's is absolutely my new favorite place!!!! Live music, amazing food, and wonderful staff. I would live here. Friday and Saturday nights they have live accordion music which is jaw dropping. I'm obsessed. The soups salads breads and sauces were phenomenal, and just when I thought it couldn't get better, the entrees came out. Definitely worth it. Amazing dining experience!

Gloria's little shop on the corner. If you want little Italy, keep looking. The food was not bad, and the average lay person to Italian cuisine would probably enjoy a meal.; Food: gnocci were drowned in cream sauce, resulting in loss of flavor Service: was ok, but not great Cost: in my opinion, too expensive than what you're making

I had one of the absolute worst experiences of my "food life" at lunch today. Now, I've eaten some pretty freaky shit and have traveled all over the world. However, when things are expected to be freaky, it makes it that much more tolerable--even appetizing to a certain degree. However, when things presented themselves at Gloria's Little Italy in a way that was most unexpected, it gave me quite a start! Things were going fine, as usual (expected mediocre), until a worm-like congealed discharge emerged from my balsamic vinegar bottle. At first thought, it appeared to be a dark brown booger that had attached itself to my olive oil plate and the vinegar bottle. it stretched about 2 inches in length and seemed to move of its own accord when I talked bad about it to my coworkers. Thankfully, I was able to wrestle it off the plate and on to a napkin where it now appeared to be a 3 year old's skid-mark. See picture for details. When I told the waitress about this and showed the evidence, she just laughed and thought it cute. Made me think this kind of thing happens all the time. Interesting.... And worst of all, my spaghetti and meatballs only had one mother-fing meatball. How lame is that?! Worst lunch ever. #nevergoingback

I really want to like this place but what previous reviews have said rings true. WAY too much sauce! The Alfredo had a good flavor, the marinara tasted like it was from a can. My beef cutlet was most likely crisp at one point but when it arrived at the table it was soggy with way too much sauce. Great flavor terrible texture. Most importantly: what kind of Italian place over cooks their noodles? I might come back but not for pasta.
(2)Paul C.
Slow service, but it was Valentine's Day. I'll cut them some slack. They're usually spot on. Okay so I normally go for the spinach ravioli with Alfredo sauce... But I strayed from my usual the other night and was rewarded with the best pasta I've had in my life. GET THE BUTTERNUT SQUASH RAVIOLI. It comes in a 5-cheese Alfredo sauce with sausage. It goes down smooth and has this unexpected, sweet aftertaste. That might sound like it's weird, but it's actually awesome. I usually don't rave like this about a certain dish but dang. Spot on. Also, if you have enough self control to save room for desert. Go to the glass case on the north side of the store and ask for one of the giant chocolate cream puff things. They'll know what you mean and you'll get a fantastic desert. As a side note, they may want to invest in some larger tables. It was just me and one other person so they put us at a small, two-person table and there was not quite enough room to call it comfortable. Any who. One of my favorites in Provo.

All that is holy I wish I would have not walked through the doors and sat down. My family of four walked through the door and an hour later we had our food place door before us. The restaurant was empty and I now understand why. The server was a nice guy and that helped during the first 30 mins. When they brought out my kids and wife's food and told me mine would be just a little bit longer. I asked him to just cancel my order for Soup and Salad! Yes that is right an hour wait for Soup and Salad.

The first time we went to Gloria's a few years ago (around 2012) it was expensive but worth it for a special occasion. However the last few times we have gone, we have had a horrible experience (and we are pretty easy going people). The food quality was awful. Of the three pasta dishes we had, one looked and tasted like warmed up leftovers, one had a "sauce" that was the consistency of colored water, and the third had globs of raw pasta. In addition, our service was lacking. Our waiter, while a nice guy, was clearly not very well trained. This place is way too expensive for the bad quality you get.
(2)Brandon O.
Worst domingo experience ever. We ordered bruschetta. Nasty, soggy bread, gross veggies. That combined with the dirty atmosphere, we decided we didn't want to waste any more money. So we decided to pay and leave. Then the manager lady proceeds to chastise us telling us that we are rude for leaving. Crappy food and crappy service. Never come here!
(1)Erika M.
The food was iffy at best. My gnocchi had a plastic aftertaste and the nutella cake legitimately tastes like alcohol. Not impressed. Our server was brash and unpleasant, and the food was not worth the money. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
(1)Amber E.
It's just not good anymore. It used to be when Gloria actually owned it. I had the mushroom gnocchi and the minute they put it in front of me, I could tell that some of be ingredients were old- maybe even bad. We were with a large group, and I didn't want to hold our group up even longer (it was 45 minutes to get our food), otherwise that would have gone back. Between the awkward service (no more worn out jokes, I beg you) and the bad food, it was just an all around fail. My husband liked his chicken Alfredo after he drowned it in salt, so that's why I'm giving this two stars instead of 1.
(2)Stephen P.
Amazing food me and my wife couldn't stop picking of each other's plates. Thy never let are drinks go empty and kept are table clear of dirty dishes. Are waitress was verry attentive and kind.and the price was good we spent 61.00$ with are dinners appetizer and desert. we will be returning
(5)Chana J.
Amazing food. I mean the food is some of the best food you can get in utah, but the service is incredibly slow.
(4)Richard C.
This place has gone downhill in recent years. I use to love going here but the quality is just not there. I recommend Terra Mia for good Italian food.
(3)Kristen S.
I feel like this place claims to be authentic homemade Italian food, but it is far from that. We have tried it three times hoping we would love it! Everything seems previously frozen, pre-made and rushed and thrown together. The meat in their red sauce is like the meat in Chef Boyardee canned food- barley visible. The side salad was super disappointing. Like it was just thrown into a bowl straight from a bag. The only thing worth getting is the gelato. To put it bluntly...the prices are really high for low quality food.
(2)Shauna S.
I hate to give so few stars for this restaurant, but the service was VERY slow and inattentive, plus the expensive lasagna was soupy and lacked flavor. My husband was really disappointed. He wanted thick, hearty lasagna with lots of meat. This was my third or fourth time here, but first review on yelp. The restaurant wasn't very full for a Saturday night, so I don't understand why our waiter was so bad. We had to ask several other waiters for help because ours was missing in action. My tortellini alla boscai was good with mushrooms and Alfredo sauce. My daughter's gnocchi with creamy tomato Rosata sauce was good. Her fiancé liked his pollo alla parmigiana. Our minestrone soups and side salads were okay. The garlic bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar decanters was delicious even though we could smell the garlic long before we got to the restaurant. Everyone else liked the calamari fritti with fries. The accordion player was friendly and took song requests; he is there Friday and Saturday nights. We didn't have time for gelato, but previously we have and it is great. I will probably try other Italian restaurants before returning here.
(3)Zach L.
New owners, better food. The tortufa is amazing, and the people are good. This is proof to me that you have to go back to a restaurant several times, especially when they change ownership. I'll be coming back to try other stuff soon.
(4)Patrick M.
Great butternut squash soup. Very creamy and full of flavor. Love my gnocchi. Found out they make it from scratch right in the back! Many flavors of gelato to choose from and sampled a few. All had great flavor and nice consistency. I will definitely be back.
(4)Matt O.
Super expensive- but worth it. Dat sauce doe. The caprase is killer. The new owners are certainly doing this place justice. Drop your prices a buck and I'll never eat Italian anywhere else.
(4)Jason C.
Probably one of the best lasagne dishes ever. Perfectly simmered, homemade sauce, pasta and cheese in perfect harmony. I really tried to save some for tomorrow, but I destroyed it all. I was just about finished with this tasty dinner when I see people hanging out at the bar having orgasm's on account of the gelato. Yes, Italian restaurants serve gelato! Don't gorge yourself on all your food - save room for dessert! I'm on the road working, so for some reason I didn't look at the wine list. I just ordered he house wine which was only 'OK' with the lasagne. Next, I hope my server will be old enough to drink alcohol and make a recommendation.
(4)Kaisha M.
I adore Gloria's. The food is great; the 4 Cheese is a must try, the Pomorola is my mom's favorite and the gelato is to die for. I've been there a dozen times and never had bad service. The atmosphere is great; it's fancy enough to take a date but not so expensive that it breaks the bank or you can stop in for just cake or Gelato without waiting for a table. The only thing I don't like is the accordion guy. He cannot take a hint when you want him to go away and he's REALLY loud so even if he's at tables nearby you have to talk at WELL above a normal volume to hear each other. He's not there every night so it's not a huge drawback but we've turned around when we realize that he's there rather than having to sit through him just for the food.
(4)Dylan M.
So sad, I've always enjoyed the food but today I went in with a friend. We sat for 25 minutes before getting up and walking out. Servers walked past us several times without even greeting us. No water or anything. Such bad service - very very dissatisfied. I've never received great service but this was just so awful I will not be returning.
(1)Jay T.
Pretty disappointing. I was surprised especially since everything is supposedly "homemade" and "family recipe." It tasted like the sauce was out of a cheap bottle from Smiths. I wouldn't go back, I really wanted to like it and support it because the staff was incredibly helpful and nice, but the food was not great.
(2)Paul B.
Penne Pasta. Shrimp. Rosata Sauce. This place literally is as good as it gets for me and pasta. It's probably the only restaurant where I can justify paying $16 for a plate of noodles, sauce, and shrimp. The Rosata sauce is one for the ages. My mother in law came up with the genius idea of just ordering the sauce and taking it home to have on hand. There is just something about that Rosata sauce that has me considering booking a flight for a weekend in Provo and Gloria's Little Italy.
(5)Maria B.
I work nearby and visit several downtown restaurants frequently, especially lunch. Gloria's used to be so yummy and great service but the last 3 times I've been, very poor service. I heard It changed ownership and has struggled since then. Food is still okay, but hard to swallow when the service is poor.
(2)Georgina F.
I live so close and tried it once with something I'm familiar with eating, but the second time around was amazing! I loved the foods, drinks, and desserts. They decor was cute, and the music was the touch that brought it all together. Authentic food and one of my tops in provo!
(5)Michael B.
I tried. I really did. I really tried to give them a second chance. We went to Gloria's on Valentine's Day this year, and... we had the exact same experience this time, so I'll just tell you about this time and you can know it happened twice. Tonight, we walked in right around 7, and the restaurant was basically empty. We sat down at our table, and a full five minutes later our waiter came and introduced himself, ready to take our drink order. We already knew what we wanted, so we ordered food as well. I ordered the Bandiera Italiana ($17). My wife, the Penne Vodka ($16?). We had the free garlic bread with oil and vinegar- a nice touch, but the oil and vinegar bottles were disgusting- grimy and sticky with spillage. This place is dying for some light Italian flute/mandolin music. As-is, the overhead fan rattling incessantly without being fixed was obnoxious in the bizarre silence. It was a full 45 minutes AFTER bread service that our food finally arrived. (Yes, this happened on Valentine's Day as well, but I attributed it to the packed-in holiday crowd) Our food arrived and... meh. The rosata sauce had a skin - clearly had sat for a while. My capellini was mushy. My chicken cutlet seemed like a frozen Tyson fillet: thin, crusty, dense, dry. My wife had asked for a little cream in her sauce, like she'd had last time, but it sure didn't seem like they'd added it. The sauce was acidic and just generally underwhelming. The waiter took about 15 minutes to check on us. "Yeah, we're okay" was my reply. My wife ended up eating seven or eight bites of her mediocre pasta. At this point, they were sitting around 2.5-3 stars. Then the real train wreck started. My wife wasn't feeling well, so she went to wait in the car. I asked the waiter for the bill and a box (didn't bother to ask if there was anything wrong with my wife's nearly-complete meal). We had come because of our "buy one entree, get one entree free" Starving Student Card coupon. However, when the bill came, it said he had taken off $12, not $16 for the cheaper entree. I looked on the card, and it says, "Up to a $12 value!". So, good-humoredly, I asked the server which entrees we could have ordered for under $12 to truly "get one free", since out of 22 entrees on the menu, a grand total of ZERO are $12 or under. He thought... then replied, "Uh... a bowl of soup?" I asked if he didn't think this was a little deceptive to lure people in with the promise of a free entree, when there is no way to get one free. I clarified that I know he didn't make the menu or the coupon, I just think it's unreasonable. He explained that there were some lunch entrees for $13 or $14 (still not $12!). I told him it doesn't say "lunch entree". Then he decided to be snarky, "Oh, well does it SAY it's for dinner only?" So I asked for the manager. The manager added nothing to the waiter's explanation other than "I'll pass that on to Gloria". I then brought up the 45-minute wait, and he started tossing out excuses to see if one would stick. Here's how the conversation went: Me: "Is it normal for your meal to take 45 minutes to come out?" Him: "Yeah, that's on the higher end, but not abnormal. It kind of depends what you order, too. I mean, we aren't the kind of restaurant where you get your food in five minutes." Me: "I don't expect five minutes. But 45 minutes? I mean, I've worked at a lot of restaurants, and I've never heard of a 45 minute wait being normal." Him: "Well, and our dish washer broke... I mean, not broke. He cut his thumb open, and... He'd normally help with prep, so..." Me: "Well which is it? Is it normal, or the dish washer cut his thumb?" Him: "Uh, well, both." I told him that we were just generally disappointed at how unrefined the experience was, referencing the nasty oil and vinegar bottles. "Well, we clean those every night. So those must have gotten dirty between lunch and dinner." Hint to all restaurateurs: Dissatisfied customers DO NOT want excuses. We want a sincere apology, and an effort to make things right. I told him that it was our second time at the restaurant, and that last time we weren't very happy, but we gave it a second chance. He offered "a dessert, on the house". My wife was already in the car, though. Not much good at that point. He explained again that he'd "tell Gloria". I told him that I worked in the restaurant business for several years, and that we have family who own restaurants, and I always make it a point to reach out to the manager when we have a disappointing experience, to see if he/she wants to make things right before writing a bad review online. There was no mention of just taking the extra four dollars off to give us the truly free entree. Just "Sorry about that. I'll pass on your comments to Gloria." Terrible service. Decent food. Deceptive advertising. Terrible management. We will not be back, and if we hear of anyone considering going, we'll dissuade them.
(1)Brad A.
I usually really like this restaurant, but tonight was very poor. The hostess sat us, and we proceeded to wait for 30 minutes for a waiter/waitress to come to our table. Nothing, not even an acknowledgment that we were even there. There were 2 other couples in the same situation. We finally left for another restaurant.
(1)Abraham G.
I went there recently for dinner with some friends and I have to say that I agree with most of the reviews, pricey and not that great. I had the tomato basil soup, which has pretty decent and I then had the fried calamari which was not that great. Our server was attentive but very slow (not her fault) food took over 45 min to get to our table despite of only being two tables being served that night. Overall I'm quite disappointed by the experience, you pay almost Cheesecake Factory prices and the food doesn't even come close.
(3)John H.
I'm not a picky eater. I love Italian food. With that said this was literally the worst lasagna I have eaten in my life, and that's including TV dinners. The food was bland and the service bad. It took over an hour to get out food both times we went (about two weeks apart). The accordion player playing for tips was decent but the girl trying to guilt all the men into buying their dates flowers was tacky. And the menu was wrong. I'll never go back.
(1)Todd W.
I'm a big fan of the gnocchi and the rosata and five formaggi sauces. I think capellini rosata with meatballs is my favorite dish. Scrumptious. Not many restaurants serve you what seems like homemade food. Maybe that's the point of a restaurant. It should be something you couldn't make at home. But there's a special kind of charm at Gloria's, where I appreciate some of their...quirks, I'll say. I've had overcooked noodles and meatballs, for instance. But you don't feel like some line cook goofed up on your food. You feel like grandma was distracted by the cake she was icing and overcooked the noodles by a minute. Does that make sense? And speaking of cake--the dessert options are PHENOMENAL. Like write-home-about-it phenomenal. And they aren't single-person portions, either.
(4)Brent Z.
One of the most disappointing experiences we've ever had. It was slow when we went in during prime time. We waited ten minutes for a server and as we were waiting I watched a server in the back using her cell phone and chatting with the staff and I told my wife watch she's the one we are waiting for. She came up to our table and said do you know what you want. We were never asked about drinks. We didn't get our appetizer until the entrees and the food was so bad we left it on our plates. We were never asked how we liked the food I went up to the front to ask for a check and waited almost ten minutes before it came. We paid left the food and went to buy dinner somewhere else. The food used to be great here. We'll never be back. The table next to us had to wait for about the same time.
(1)Chelsea J.
When I went last fall, this place was great, but my experience last weekend was terrible!! McDonald has better service then Gloria's Little Italy. The servers did not keep the water glasses full, we had to go find our waiter to get water! The food was SUPER SLOW. The waiter never once asked how the food was. When we went to pay, they would not take our Groupon. On top of the poor service, I got food poisoning. I will never go back.
(1)Brian S.
Pros: great ambiance, very personable, intimate feel, excellent mushroom appetizer, my date said the tomato basil soup was amazing, and the flavor of the Sicilian red pesto sauce was amazing. Cons: very minimal sauce on my dish although my date got gnocchi and hers was loaded in sauce. If mine had the same amount of sauce, then they would have received 5 stars. Also really enjoyed their accordion/opera singer. Excellent touch!
(4)Brian H.
Really very delicious food, had a take out so it wasn't fresh but all the dishes we had were really awesome.
(4)Nadia B.
My hubby and I stopped here on our way to Salt Lake City, the waitress was very nice and friendly. We shared everything: caprese salad and minestrone soup, pasta dish and great desserts (I had lemon poppy seed gelato and my hubby ordered a big chocolate bomb - not sure of the name - both were absolutely delicious). There was also a guy who played accordion, which added a nice Italian touch and created a cosy atmosphere.
(5)Kimberly B.
Frankly, I had expected better. The description that will be littered throughout this review: "OKAY" We went last night on a recommendation from a friend who considered this "one of the best restaurants in Provo/Orem," and we walked away having eaten an okay dinner, but solidly disagreeing with him. Complimentary garlic bread = okay. Nothing special. Tomato Basil Soup = yummy, but only because it was full of cheese. Couldn't really taste the promised "tomato" or "basil." Salad = very disappointing. It obviously came from a bag, had one cherry tomato and a few croutons scattered over it, and the dressing (I got Caesar) didn't inspire. My husband ordered the gnocchi with their 5-cheese sauce, and while the gnocchi was the best I've ever had, it wasn't anything special, and probably not worth the $18 it cost. I got the Pollo Marsala and was pretty disappointed. The chicken was okay, but not "$19" okay, and the side of Fettuccine was really bland. If you go, get the gnocchi and choose soup over salad for your first course. The hype is undeserved, in my opinion, but the food is okay. Unless you're a really huge food critic, you'll have a decent dining experience and walk away full. But don't trust people who tell you this is a MUST. Head north to Pizzeria 712 instead.
(3)Cindy P.
My husband had the Pollo Parmagiana, I had the lasagna. Both were pretty good as was the bread and balsamic they brought to the table. Our friends ordered the tortellini to share (which isn't large enough to share). It all seemed a little pricey for what you get. The place was relatively busy, the service a tad slow. It's a nice place for leisurely meal if you want to spend the money but I personally think there's better food and a better value around the corner. Much more authentic too.

Was in Provo for business & was referred to Gloria's by our hotel. We wanted to try something local so was all for it! We had traveled all day and were ready to eat as soon as it opened. We were seated promptly (party of 2) at a small table with a good view. One of our drinking glasses was dirty & happily replaced. The service getting our soup out was fine & the soup was tasty. The garlic bread... Wasn't garlic bread. Simple white bread drizzled in olive oil. We placed our order; with barely anyone dining at the time & an over staff of servers, it took a long time for our entrees to come out. When they did arrive, the food was lukewarm. Dishes were tasty; way too much sauce on the eggplant parmigiana. Once we were finished eating, we waited about 15-20 minutes before anyone noticed we were done. No one came by the table to ask if we were finished we had to flag someone down for our check. Was never asked how our meal was either. Overall, the food was good but poor service.
(3)Harry G.
worst dinner ever . arrived around 650 pm got sat right away. ordered pretty quickly then waited 35 minutes for entrees lazagne and eggplant parmesan. mine was burnt around the edges and cold in the middle, my wifes eggplant parmesan was not breaded.it took the waitress about 10 to 15 minutes to check back on us.asked if the eggplant was supposed to be breaded. then asked for a menu so she could order something else. after waiting several more minutes i got up myself to grab a menu. when she finally returned she infrormed us that the chef said it was not supposed to be breaded. we then showed her the menu which in black and white says lightly breaded . anyways ordered something else but i was done with my meal so we canceled the other entree. the manager walked over to us and infromed us that she would be charging my wife for the side of pasta that came with her entrée. and of course my meal.great customer service you want to screw up the meal and not check on the table then you want to charge for eating the little side of pasta. seriously i have never been so insulted. i guess i got a cheap lesson. good luck in the future cause there is no way i would ever return . i am still so heated about this. Hopefully that manager can put herself in my shoes and see things from our perspective we went to eat a dinner together. i am the only that got to eat. no one checked on us kitchen maid the mistake waitress wanted to argue over the breading of the eggplant. WOW!!!!!!!!!!
(1)Cynthia H.
I loved them before they moved to Center street and had to double their prices for their new high rent district. My biggest complaint is that the salad that comes with your meal is nothing but 'spring mix' from costco with so-so dressing. Seriously? The penne arrabiata is my favorite and for that reason I continue to go once a year but the hunt is back on for an amazing non-chain Italian restaurant in Utah county. Sigh. The eggplant parmesan is so soggy. I make amazing eggplant parmesan that is crispy--and I'm a home cook. Training chefs in a restaurant should do betta! Desserts and gelato are delicous though.
(3)Emma K.
The pesto fettuccine and gelato were delicious. Also, our server was efficient, engaging, and attentive to our needs.
(4)Felix B.
Service was lousy, and food was only decent. Certainly not worth the wait.
(2)Justin G.
Gloria's is a great find for anyone in provo who has never been there! It's surprisingly really good Italian food, complete with gelato. The waiters are knowledgable about the menu so be sure to ask for recommendations, but everything I've tried here is good. For italian food in Provo, Gloria's is as good as it gets. If you don't speak italian, use a smartphone to translate the phrases on the bathroom walls, they're great :)
(5)Paul E.
The food was fine, but completely overpriced and the service slow.. A simple order of calamari and ragu capellini took 90 minutes before we got the final check. Had to ask a busser to help us get the check. $14.50 for meatless tomato sauce on some angel hair pasta?!! We will not be back.
(2)Russell S.
I recently went to Gloria's for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The atmosphere is nice and the guy that comes around and plays the accordion offers a nice touch. Be mixes in a bit of humor with his playing. As for the meal, I ordered the Portofino. One of the house specialties. I thought the meal was good, but you just didn't get enough for $18.50. I could really taste the ragu sauce, but the pesto was nowhere to be tasted. I was done within a few minutes. The salad was below average. The lettuce was just iceberg/romaine with some shredded carrots and tomatoes. I would have have thought the salad would have have been a bit more intricate. The salad could have passed for a side salad you get at a fast food place. The gelato was average. I had 2 scoops, strawberry and mango. The mango was better than the strawberry without question. Overall, the gelato lacked the flavor I've had elsewhere. There are about 12-14 flavors to choose from. Service was very good. The waiter did a great job of handling the table of 16. People raved about this place, Gloria's might be very good Italian in Provo, but not quite up to par compared to other places I've been to across the US.
(3)Brooke G.
It's another, better than Olive Garden place, but nothing authentic and gourmet. Worth a try if you are interested in something other than a chain restaurant.
(3)John Carlo A.
Not impressed. For such a good location food should be better. Ownership wake up. Saturday night and place was half empty for a reason. High prices put the nail in the coffin.
(2)Marie B.
Gloria's used to be fantastic until Gloria moved away. Plus, that guy who walks around singing Disney songs while playing the accordion? He is a adorable for approximately 10 seconds and then he becomes annoying and I eat my meal in utter fear that he is going to come over and serenade me. But I'm ready for when he asks me what Disney song to play. TRON.
(2)Robbie P.
They used to have delicious garlic bread, but not so much any more. still, really good entree's
(4)Rob R.
Excellent restaurant. I am a big fan of Dulce Vita also, but Gloria's Little Italy has amazing customer service. My wife and I went there for an anniversary and the staff went out of their way to help us celebrate. They put us in a table in a private, curtained room and the waiter always made sure that we had what we needed. Then at the end, he brought us out two gelatos on the house. You don't get that kind of service in many places anymore.

The family was in town and was craving Italian. Gloria's Little Italy was only a few blocks away, so we thought we'd give it a try. We made a reservation for 5:30 on a Saturday, but that seemed unnecessary as there was plenty of seating when we arrived. That said, if you plan on arriving a bit later, a reservation seemed like it would be a good idea. We were seated quickly and our waiter showed up, friendly and ready to help. We started out with some drinks (bear in mind you wont find any sort of wine or other alcohol here, which makes sense and yet is odd at the same time). The menu has a wide variety of foods, though it could use some better descriptions. Once ordered, the food took a little longer than average to arrive, but I didn't really mind. As I took my first bite of my gnocchi I found it to be pretty good, but not great. I have to be honest, I've had better gnocchi at a food cart back in Portland. At first, that may sound like an insult, but it's not - this particular cart just has some *amazing* food. Anyways, the food was good, better than the typical Italian chains, but a little expensive for the quality, in my opinion. To wrap things up, we shared an order of limoncello gelato. It was ok, but tasted more like Minute Maid lemonade gelato than limoncello. Overall, Gloria's is an ok place to grab some Italian food. I just wish the prices were a bit lower though. Will I go back? Maybe, but not before exploring some of my other options.

This Italian restaurant was very delicious and very friendly (considering I looked like a lost bum). However, as a broke student it was too much money for me. I was only able to afford the pasta and sauce. Luckily it came with bread and water. The sauce really is amazing. I got the mixture of the red and white sauce. If I am ever in the area again with more money or with a hot date I will return.

Limited, over-priced menu. Food is good but not great, at least not worth the price. Their lentil soup is about the only thing that has struck me as delicious. Service wasn't bad but not great.

The food here is reasonable, not the best Italian food ever, but better than chain Italian. The service was friendly even helping us pronounce all the dishes. Many people (on yelp as well as their website) have commented that is it is like the food in Italy or that it reminds them of Italy, I wouldn't agree, it was good just not that good. For one to remind me of Italy I would have to have a good bottle of wine, preferably already on the table :) I had the Cavatelli al Pesto with both sauces. Don't let them trick you, you don't have to pay extra for the extra sauce. I like both sauces, however the sun dried tomato pesto had a much richer flavor. The noodles where nothing exceptional. For dessert I shared a lemonchello gelato, it tasted like Minute Maid, seriously not good. As the place was only a couple of blocks away, it was a decent find. I would say that the food was average, not exceptional (see review of tasty unique in Portland) but better than others (*cough* Ginos-Portland *cough*). I would like to try some other places around the greater SLC area before venturing back here. On a final note, I ended up all night with a stomach ache not that I'm blaming Gloria, but that was the last thing I ate. For that I would say minus a star, but since I can't be for sure, I'm going to leave it at three.

This is great authentic italian, not like the american chains! This place has an amazing bechamel...what, you don't know what that is? Google it! It's the best creamy sauce there is! Great service also, the waitress was genuine and not fake nice...I hate when people in other restaurants talk as they would never talk with their friends. I had to congratulate the chef for the bechamel and he apreciated it a lot! I'll definetly go back there!

I was in town on business. Several locals told me this was THE PLACE to go for good Italian food. They are sadly mistaken. I ordered the ragu with penne and meatballs. Came with a free salad which was reasonably fresh. The house dressing was a little blah, but not a terrible start. Garlic bread was so-so, not horrible but nothing to write home about. The entree? Well, let me start by saying I've prepared better at home and I'm not a professionally trained chef. The meatballs were over cooked. They tasted bland and they were clearly microwaved. They were actually hard (rock hard) in places and soft in others. After a couple of bites I decided I wasn't going to eat them. The pasta was luke warm as well as undercooked and the sauce, while reasonably flavorful, was cold in spots and just warm in others. My co-workers pizza almost tasted like it was cardboard that wasn't quite cooked all the way through. Very little sauce on it. Tons of cheese though. Based on my and my co-workers meals it seems the microwave is clearly the main component of their kitchen. If you have had good Italian food, you will probably want to look elsewhere.

Stay away! I had one of the worst experiences! The atmosphere was great, it drew us in from the window (although it seemed more French than Italian, what with all the fleur de lis). The tables were WAY too small! The waiter had to ask us to lift our appetizer plates to make room for the dishes he put in front of us. Bigger people--beware! Even the tables for 4 were teeny! The waiter was nice. He had awful suggestions. We tried La Caprese for an appetizer--we each ate a hunk of mozzarella and chunky slice of tomato to be nice. Tooooo much basil. There was a guy that brought by sourdough bread which made the appetizer less hard to swallow. The salad he brought out was reminiscent of the pre-mixed stuff you get at the grocery store--the cheap kind! I expected baby spinach or mixed greens or ANYTHING but the iceburg lettuce with carrot slices and cucumber cubes they put in front of me. I ordered the Gnocchi, which is some award winning food apparently. The person I was with ordered Chicken Parmesan. They served me some pesto dish with broccoli and chicken instead of what I asked for. I hadn't really payed too close attention to what was in my dish since it said "most popular" or something on it--I didn't even notice! The chicken was fatty and there were huge pieces of broccoli with mostly stem. The waiter came back and told me he gave me the wrong thing--I was already pretty much full and the food was pretty much half gone, so he just apologized and I was at the point where I didn't even care. We wanted to see the desert menu, and he said he'd be right back with it...it took him longer to bring us that and our check then our food! He was busy flirting with the hostess... We ordered Duomo di Cioccolato, which we were assured was made by Gloria herself! It was the only thing I enjoyed besides my Italian Soda, so maybe Gloria should get behind the stove! It ended up being (with about a 15% tip) almost $70 for both of us combined!! It was an expensive waste of time and an unfortunate experience!

When I was in Provo this was the best Restaurant we went to. The only real downside was the price, which didn't affect me due to the tab being picked up by my employer.

Stay away! The food was wayyyy overpriced and food abysmal. The portions are relatively small as well. The veggies were not fresh, and the sauce was too runny in my pasta. Hubby ordered a salad, and got the wrong dressing on it. The server just grinned and apologized, not even having the courtesy to take it back. Poor hubby just ate it. What boggles the mind is that this place is significantly more expensive than the nearby Dolce Vita and neighboring Ottavio's (which I heard is sadly shutting down). The silverware, the tables, food quality, the ambiance, everything is cheap. Stay away!

Have eaten here once, and almost did a second time. Had the carbonara the first time, was OK, though the sauce was a little thinner than I like. The (almost) second time was earlier this evening. Though the place wasn't very busy, the hostess placed us near the center of the restaurant adjacent to the waiter station; not quite as bad as being next to the kitchen door, but close. As it was a gloriously sunny early spring evening, we asked to sit near a window. The hostess explained that they place people in different sections to balance the diners in each area. A hint here: I'm the customer - I'm not interested in your load balancing. Had the staff been a little older and more experienced, they might have 1) honored the customer's request, 2) move the next couple of customers to the area with lesser activity, thereby accomplishing the goal and keeping the customer happy. They failed at both and, as we turned to leave, the hostess managed a dripping-with-sarcasm 'Sorry...'. We won't be back, at least until the staff has some adult supervision.

Not accepting paid gift certificates due to some squabble with the marketing company. passing the loss on to customers = bad business

Went to Gloria's on Friday with my wife after a recommendation from an Italian friend. We arrived at the front door and were seated immediately. Upon examining the menu, my wife ordered the Samuel's Salmone with veggies (grilled salmon with veggies and asparagus tips) and I ordered the Gamberi Con Salsa Besciamella (fettuccine with shrimp and cream sauce). The salmon was cooked to perfection. For me that means that it was grilled so it was done but not overcooked to the point of being dry. The asparagus was nicely done, but the other veggies - YUCK! You could tell they were the frozen variety. When you bit into the carrot it had that rubbery texture that frozen vegetables have. With my dish, the fettuccine was inconsistent at best. For one thing, you could tell that the pasta had been sitting out and reheated. You know that how dried out pasta looks compared to freshly cooked pasta? Some of my pasta had the dried out look. The pasta was cooked al dente (which is all right with me) but there were some parts that were more al dente than others. That tells me that they used fettuccine which was prepared at different times. For dessert, my wife and I ordered the gelato and it was delicious. Would I go back again? Not sure.

I have been there twice, both times the food was good. However, I think it is a bit expensive which may be due to their location. I was also surprised that they will give you a couple of small pieces of bread, but if you want more they charge you .25 cents each. These are tiny pieces of bread -- I was a bit floored they charged me for the extra bread. The food is good and the decor is nice. Parking is on the street and limited.

You can't go wrong getting anything on the menu. It is all good. It boasts that it feels like home cooking and it does but you would have to be a great cook to do it as well at home. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because when they first opened in Provo they were a lot cheaper than they are now. It made the bang for buck a little lower. Had I never been there before they moved to the center st location i would probably have given it 5 stars.
(4)Mark B.
Raised prices since moving locations to Center St so not as good a deal as it once was. They seem to offer lot of student discounts. Decent menu with basic pasta and Italian dishes. Nothing spectacular I remember about it.

If your looking for authentic Italian food you've found the place. Everything that comes from the kitchen tastes fresh and good! if you want bland go to one of the chain restaurants. The wait staff could improve their performance and sometimes the accordion playing could be less but the food is magnificent!

I have a friend from the east coast who use to frequent some authentic Italian resturaunts in his old neighborhood. Since moving to LA then Park City he has been on a quest for a west coast facsimile. I took him to Gloria's. His words: "I think I found it." The owner is frequently on site and hand makes the gnocchi each morning. Delicious.

We went there to celebrate my nephew's seventh birthday. We were sort of a large group with three little kids and we were greeted and seated immediately. Great service, good jokes, delicious food. They brought my nephew the most delicious free birthday desert and sang him "Happy Birthday" in operatic Italian. It was so adorable to watch the kids enjoy his fantastic singing! We thoroughly enjoyed our bruschetta appetizer glazed with a honey/balsamic blend and lots of garlic, mmmmmmm. The only thing lacking that we ordered was a side salad that was lackluster. The pasta dishes and paninis were perfect and prices super reasonable. Also, the decor and ambience was cozy and inviting. I hope to go back next time we come to town.

We went to Gloria's for a Friday lunch. Service was quick and courteous. I like the food better than Ottavio's. Now that they're downtown, I'll probably go more often. The prices have gone up since they moved out of their SoPro location, but the change isn't objectionable.

first off, their desserts are amazing! i can't remember any of the names, because they are all italian--but i've had 3 different things there (not gelato) that were insanely good. also, they do half-price desserts after 7 or 8 pm on saturdays. we will be going there a lot when we get back to provo. we are a fan of their gnocchi, and the sauces they use in all their pastas are dang good. they make a ridiculously tasty minestrone, which is our 2 year-old's favorite thing to eat on their menu. i don't really like their garlic bread. i would prefer they would just do plain bread with some olive oil and vinegar on your table, because i think the garlic bread is kind of salty and blah. but...whatevs. don't have to eat it, since it is free with ordering.

Excellent. Good Italian food is hard to find here in Utah, the place no one wants to be but are stuck in anyway. - Gloria's recently moved to this new location. It's bigger than the old place, and let's see over time if they can keep up the service. Run by a small Italian family, the interior is nicely decorated, but oddly setup. My table was at the back of a small bookcase facing the deli counter. Odd to have people hovering nearby while I'm trying to enjoy my meal. For a new place - why this odd setup? You'll see what I mean. - The food was very nice: The menu is different than any other I've seen: They list their sauces, and their pastas, and you combine the two. I got angel hair carbonara. Not bad. Only 2 pastas are made in-house - the gnocchi and something else - I forget! Anyhow your server will tell you! - Speaking of servers - ours was extremely polite and nice. It must be in the Mormon handbook that you have to be nice or you'll go to hell. The kid served in Italy for his mission. Yah it's ok if you don't understand it either - just be thankful he doesn't try to convert you as you wait for you wine. - I had to wait for my wine. Let me warn you NO ONE in this state knows how to serve alcohol!! I got a glass of chardonnay and you'd think I was the first one to ever do this. The owner herself brought out my small glass of wine. Very odd. No bottle, no pouring, it's like the booze had to be escorted out to the floor. I don't think my waiter was like, allowed to touch it or something. Odd. (Pass on the wine, by the way.) - Desert was wicked good - some kind of chocolate cake with strawberries. Very very good. - I do like this place and I will be back!

I really had a problem with Gloria's. I ate the gnocchi and a few hours later was deathly ill. I don't know if it was really the gnocchi or not, but I'll never go back to Gloria's for a second chance. It wasn't even good anyway, it tasted like watery mold. Totally not impressed - if you want good Italian food, go up the street to Ottavio's, and if you want okay Italian, go to Olive Garden, but I wouldn't waste a meal at this place.

Gloria's is not great Italian food. It is okay Italian food and pricey considering that it is just okay. I would pay those prices for good or excellent Italian, but not for less-than-average middle-to-southern Italian home-cooking.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile, so when I saw a gift certificate online, I bought it. We went there for lunch, which was really slow, probably because their lunch specials run about $12.50 which is pretty pricey for the area. The food was good, but my husband was glad I ordered a full size sandwich that I could share with him or he definitely would have left hungry. The problem started upon paying our bill. The credit card machine was down. I gave the cashier our gift certificate and he wrote out a hand receipt so that I could charge a tip. The next week I looked at my bank statement and they had charged me over $30. To rectify this they said I had to bring in my receipt (which by the way didn't have their name on it or even a date written in) and a copy of my bank statement. What a pain, I thought. I decided to make a special trip to Provo in the middle of the afternoon to do this when the place wasn't busy, instead of Friday night when we would be driving through anyway. When I got there I was informed that only the owner would do refunds, and that he was busy in the kitchen and couldn't come out right away. Apparently the fact that I left sleeping kids at home with a sitter, and the fact that they screwed up royally and I was making a special trip to prove to them their error carried no weight. After 20 minutes he finally came out and said sorry, but it wasn't their fault, it was the credit card company's fault and then started the refund. It's pretty amazing how the credit card company can charge me the wrong amount when nobody swiped the card and my receipt clearly showed what they were supposed to charge. Bottom line: the food was pretty good, but pricey and you don't get a lot of it. The owner has no sense of customer service at all. Luckily for everyone but me, I guess he's in the kitchen a lot.

$40 for 2 mediocre plates. Waiter was meh. Not going back.

My family and I went here over the weekend for the first time and loooooved it. Excellent Italian, and reasonably priced. I was much more impressed with the quality of their food over Ottavio's, and Gloria's is about the same price point if not cheaper. It's nothing fancy, but the food is amazing. My husband had the lasagna and said it was the best he'd ever tasted. There were 5 of us total, and everyone was very satisfied with their meals. We'll definitely be back.
(5)Nathan W.
Pretty dang good pasta. Sandwiches can be hit or miss. The bruschetta is awesome (and I hate tomatoes, so that's impressive). Prices aren't quite justified by the food and atmosphere. It is a nice location though. I'd say the same level as Ottavio's, but the food is the tiniest bit better, and the atmosphere not quite as nice. Not that there's a choice anymore. There was one time when our server seemed on downers. He took forever and was totally unresponsive. I think it was a one-time thing though.

This is the most authentic Italian food I have enjoyed since living in Italy for 18 months. I have eaten there numerous times and have only had one thing I didn't absolutely love. It is by no means an upscale restaurant, although it is great for a date or a group. It reminds me more of eating in the home of an Italian family - low key with amazingly fresh, homemade food. Aside from fabulous pastas, their desserts are quite delicious as well.
(5)Ralf H.
Very average. Many good dishes only available Fridays and Saturdays. Silverware blunt, I could barely cut my chicken. Looks nice and comfortable.
(3)Malcom R.
I literally could not say enough good about this place. Everything there is delicious. The people that cook the food are actual italians, so the food is very authentic. Having lived in Italy, I can confidently say that their food is authentic. They have many different kinds of sauces and pastas. Their lasagna is to die for. My wife said "It's like a party in my mouth!" They have real gelato, which delicious. Gnocchi are delicious. The pizza is also quite good and comes in many traditional flavors. The service is always friendly and fast. Mauro and Gloria are always on site, and take a personal interest in their customers. I feel like an old friend when I eat there. I think that is why I keep coming back, year after year. They are awesome and your money would be well spent there.
(5)Sean S.
Went here as a farewell dinner for my cousin who was leaving the Provo Area. The restaurant had a very nice ambience and they had a violinist walk around playing various songs, you don't get that at Macaroni Grill! I ordered the cheese tortellini with mushroom sauce which was awesome. The owner came around to all the tables to make sure everything tasted good and to see how we were doing. If I ever come back to the Provo area I'm defiantly stopping here.
(5)Amie R.
Gloria's has moved into a new and much larger space on Center Street in Provo, a huge improvement over the cramped restaurant/deli place they used to have. The food is still just as good (gnocci is excellent), the service is much better, but the prices have gone up, quite a bit in some cases.
(3)Rachel J.
This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to, mostly due to their horrific service. It took us half an hour to get our water, the waiter barely acknowledged us. Once he took our order (about 45 minutes after we were seated) he never came to apologize or anything for the extreme delay. Didn't bring our bread until we explicitly asked for it, and it was horrible. Basically just store bought white bread. Our salads (which were so gross tasting neither of us finished them) came after we'd been there over an hour, and our food took a very similar amount of time. Everyone around us was complaining. Once the food came it wasn't even very good. Not horrible, but not worth the wait or the prices. After being there 2 hours for a crappy meal I could have made better and cheaper at home, we expected them to offer us a free dessert or something but no such gestures were made. I am so unimpressed with this restaurant we will never go there again. I'm still upset my boyfriend made us stay as long as we did.
