Stopped in for lunch. Apparently this is a franchise operation, although this is the first one I've seen. For those familiar with the Island's chain in CA, the beach/surfer theme will look familiar. As they only opened within the past month, I was not too surprised when we encountered some minor service snafus. Our server was friendly and giving it his best effort, but they definitely need to tighten up coordination between the kitchen and front of house. I ordered the fish tacos and an appetizer side of wings. Since wings are the focus here, I was not surprised that the tacos were just okay. I was disappointed in the wings, however. While I liked the "boss" sauce (flavorful, not too hot, and just the right quantity), the wings themselves were way overcooked. I will give Hurricane's another couple of months to work out the kinks before my next visit, but based on this trip, two stars is as good as it gets.

This place is 5 minutes from my home in Cary, yes!! I've been here several times and haven't been disappointed. They have excellent wings with several yummy sauce options! If you're not in the mood for wings, do not fret! There are several other tempting food choices. The staff is always great and attentive. Cocktail and beer prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Wings (regular or boneless) are great. Pickle chips are on point. Our server seemed a bit clueless but overall a nice experience. They should do well in this location.

I really like hurricanes. The bar is a nice place to hangout. The mahi fish tacos are the best in Cary. John and Sam are great bartenders.

No. No no no. If you still want to have an optimistic outlook on any wing joint, pleeeaasee spare yourself from a trip here. My boyfriend and I stopped by around five on a Saturday night. While the staff was nice, we were thoroughly unimpressed with the quality of the food. Our steaks were burnt, and the rest of what was actually edible was rather mediocre. That being said, you can do better. I'm being generous with two stars because of the good service.

Be prepared. You will pay $6 for a peach tea...a non-alcoholic peach tea. Other than that I enjoyed the house chips. They were delish. I just couldn't get beyond the cost of the tea. Sorry.

1st Visit Sept. 10, 2014. Left with little intention to return. The sweet tea was weak - waitress "oh it was too sweet so they added some unsweet to it". Too much. Never asked if she could get my wife something else. Slaw with Fish n chips tasted ODD to say the least. Asked waitress - oh it has pepper in it. And by the looks, it was like the original tea - so much pepper it was inedible. Did the waitress ask if she could get us something else? No. And $5.50 for a bowl of chowder. Wow, just no value on that one for amount received. So, $30 ($29.58plus tip) for fish n chip, burger, chowder and 2 drinks and unhelpful server. Not a great 1st visit. Good music, nice atmosphere for a hang out type of place.

I am not sure what to make of this place. Wing chains are on every street corner and in every strip mall these days. This place looks like it was plucked from Downtown Disney. The ersatz Key West decor is just a little too sterile and a lot too cheesy for me. They did have some very fine beer selections. My food was just OK, and the server was trying just a little too hard to be chummy. Where do we live? What do we "do"? How long have we been married? Sheesh. Look, fella, you don't need to make me feel like I'm being waterboarded by the CIA in order to be engaging. My wife and I are sociable people. Just don't rush it. I guess it's OK for what it is, but it's just way too bright and dorky if I want to go in for a few beers, and it's way too close to an IHOP-feel for dinner. It looks like a place tourists from Wisconsin bring their sweaty, sunburned, whiny kids while on vacation in Orlando. Sorry guys, I can't get past the vibe to even be able to make a case for the food and drink. ...but that's just me.

One of our favorite watering holes, the wings are excellent with over 30 flavors and make sure you try the garlic Parmesan fries!

Great Food, Love the atmosphere and fun for the whole family. Kids eat free on Tuesdays which is a great deal. With so many traditional bars in the area, it is great to see a different atmosphere in Cary. The food is always tasty and I have tried many different items on the menu. Definitely check it out and enjoy some great seafood, wings, or burgers.

I thought the food was ok, I ordered the broccoli with much excitement (I heard was awesome) and was bummed when they forgot the sauce and they definitely werent cooked enough. The mahi tacos were good but I have had better at Two Guys Grille. I like the menu selection and the drinks were yummy! Voodoo bucket!! Awesome service.

First off I have to say, this place has over 30 different sauces for wings and what do I get? Plain! I was so confused about what to get..didn't want super hot, too sweet, too tangy so I just gave up and got nothing! The wings were OK, next time I'll spice it up. The loaded fries with cheese, bacon, ranch and jalapenos were delicious! I was kinda hanging out with girls and no one could decide where to stop for a bite to eat, and just happened to be driving past this place so we thought we'd give it a try. Monday nights the wings are .50 (YAY!) draft beer $2. I'm gonna give this place another try, I think the wings may be much better if jazzed up a bit, so my next review could add another star.

With so many flavors to choose from we were glad to be offered a sauce sampler! Wings were fresh and crispy. Regular fries were just okay. Corn medley was good but could use a bit more flavor. Service was great. I'd recommend trying this place if you love wings.

Interesting little place located in Cary. The boneless wings are fantastic (even taste better than Buffalo Wild Wings) and they are available in 30 different sauces. Nice "beach theme" interior with only a few televisions, it is not your traditional "sports bar" but that is fine with me. Very extensive menu - and the tropical drinks are fantastic and reasonably priced. They have daily specials, including "Kids Eat Free" on Tuesday evenings.

I believe these are the worst wings I've ever had the misfortune of buying! We ordered a take-out order of 50 wings and 2 sides. We got 25 of them medium buffalo and 25 thai chili spicy (they were extremely bland), our two sides were french fries. There was absolutely no heat in the medium buffalo wings and we were expecting a spicy thai chili wing, but it was simply loaded w/ ginger, but not a bit of heat. We enjoy wings that are fried where the skin is crispy and coated w/ the sauce. The skin of these wings were disgustingly soggy. The size of the wing was nice, but they definitely didn't fry them long enough. The same can be said of the french fries...soggy strips of potatoes. Won't be going back there, extremely disappointed ... a total waste of money.

I went on a busy Saturday night and they took a minute to seat me. I was happy to see they had a full bar! They have an extensive drink menu for specialty drinks and a HUGE menu for food! They had a choice of 30 kinds of sauces!!!! My waitress Nichole was very helpful for me choosing a sauce and explaining the menu despite how busy she was! I decided on boss sauce which was delicious. The boneless wings I ordered came out fast and were hot and delicious! Next time I want to try the fried pickles! They had so many things I wanted to try! ill have to go back several times to try everything!

This is one of those places that I just can't pin down what's wrong. Sometimes the kitchen is slow, sometimes it's the waiter/waitress not getting something right, I don't know. The first time I went was on opening night...I live very close. I had signed up in advance for a rewards card. I spent about $100 that first trip with family, but was told they were not set up for the rewards thing on their registers yet. One of the franchise partners told me to save my receipt and they would run it next time. Next time, I was told it couldn't be done after a ticket had been closed, I would need to send a copy to the corporate office and they could fix it. I scanned the receipt and my card and e-mailed the corporate office and never got a response. There is also a fair amount of shrimp and fish on the menu. Since we have an extreme allergy in our family to shrimp and we couldn't be assured that they don't cook everything in the same grease, that pretty much knocked out everything on the menu for that person...wings, fries, fish. As I recall, grilling raised the same issue. So, we aren't likely to frequent Hurricane Wings much. Maybe when our allergy person isn't with us and someone is craving wings. It's too bad though, because they are in such a convenient location for us.

Mediocre food. Wings overcooked. Okay service, but they were shorthanded. They charge for ranch dressing!?!?!

was not impressed! my first visit and my last! the grouper taco should have been a safe bet but it was very over fried i was wondering where was the grouper! the wings were ok, the celery had spots on it.. my daughter had santefe chicken wrap was good with chips...pepsi products so be prepared!

My family and I were looking for a new wing and sports bar. So we chose Hurricanes! We had a great meal! The wings are Jumbo! 30 FLAVORS. the menu has a great selections for the whole family. Way better than Buffalo Wild wings and Wild wing cafe. A MUST TRY!

So-so food, not really worth going. It's like a Chili's but with a surf theme. The waitress rushed us even gave us our bill before our food arrived. Try another place if you can.

I went to this place last night for dinner. I sat at the bar with a friend. The drinks were good (Hurricane Bumba, yum) but the food was not. I got the Cajun and another flavor (can't remember what it was) and they had absolutely no flavor at all. I like the ambiance and I'll go back for the drinks. Next time, I'll skip dinner and eat somewhere else.

Dont go! If you're a wing lover by even the slightest bit, you can find much better wings and service than this place. I have had wings at many different restaurants over the years and this was likely the worst experience of them all. My wife and went a few months ago. I always order my wings extra wet, when they came out they were barely sauced at all. I politely asked for extra wing sauce, and the idiot brings it out ice cold. I told him it was cold and he replied: "Thats how it comes to us." Really??? I then asked him why they cook the wings then since those come cold and raw. Service was terrible from seating to drink refills and everything in between, and the wings were just not good. BWW is always a much better go-to option.

This place is not very big. The bar itself is not huge...but cozy, and I like the beach theme! The staff is friendly. I wouldn't recommend coming to hang at the bar if your group is larger than 3 or 4. I love the fact that there are not a lot of TVs. I wish I could find a cool restaurant with NO TV's, actually! The wings are in their name, but their BURGERS are awesome!!

I must have been at a completely different restaurant. We were there on a Friday night. Gave the hostess our name and told her we would be at the bar for the 20 minute wait. We were either never called or didn't hear our name. I'm guessing they don't check the bar for waiting customers. First beers were great but had to wait a long time for a bartender to check with us for refills. We ordered food (mine fish and chips, hers Coastal Crab Cakes). We waited a very long time for our order and finally had to ask someone to check. When our food was finally delivered it was obvious that it spent too much time under the heat lamps.....Not Good Idea for Fish!! ...........won't be going back

If restaurants had psychiatrists, this place would be diagnosed as bipolar. We've been here four times, the first time was great; the other three - not so much. But, I want to like Hurricane Grill, so I keep coming back, hoping the bad experiences were flukes, but I'm beginning to think we're going to give up. As I mentioned, the first trip was 100% perfect. I think it may have been two or three days after it opened. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Since then, we've been at least 50% disappointed each trip. Here's why I say it's bipolar. I've ordered the Ancho Chile Lime Churrasco twice. The first time, it was big, tender, juicy and delicious. The second time, it was a fatty, chewy mess. The fried shrimp? Perfect. Light, crispy, cooked just right. The fried pickles? Burnt to a crisp. Mahi fish tacos? Excellent. Service? Completely crappy. I will say this (but I won't mention any names), the last three times we went, we had the same server, and he was terrible. He messed up our orders - big time - all three times! But the atmosphere is fun, and it's like "come party with us," and we're like "OK!" But then the party really isn't that great. Maybe the servers shouldn't stand around so much. It seems like the place is always overstaffed for the amount of guests, and I guess when you're standing around so much, your attention to detail suffers. I don't know; maybe we'll give it one more time, but I can't guarantee.
Always looking for good places to eat or have a drink in Cary, as my best friend lives there, however that can be a tedious task sometimes in Cary, compared to the dining in Downtown Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, etc... I love wings, and have tried many different places in the triangle offering wings and bar type food. This place does a great job! Dined here for lunch, and it was delicious. Our server was efficient and really friendly,, made us feel right at home. Superb Draft choices, if you are into beer..even have Red Oak, that was a nice surprise. The wings are on the large size, so fare warning when ordering, a small order goes a long way. They were cooked to perfection, and as with most wing restaurants they offer plenty of flavor and spice choices. Three things really impressed me,, free wifi doesn't require you to ask the waiter for the password, it really is open wifi, the restaurant has napkins at the table, and our server brought us a tray for the bones. They definitely know how to prepare for eating delicious, juicy, messy wings!!

Excellent wings! Thirty different sauces and you get to sample them before you order. I have been once for lunch and once for dinner, and had good service both times. Parmesan fries were also good. Not a fan of the fried pickle recipe....too much breading. Looking forward to trying the fish tacos.

Second time visited. The service is horrible. Th second time we waited over ten minutes and nobody came to attend us. We just left. Gave them a second chance just in case. Proved me wrong. Avoid this place!!!! Better service and wings all around the area!!

We went on a busy Friday night and there was no wait. We were seated at a large table and ordered our drinks. The food came out quickly and the server was very knowledgeable about the menu. He was very helpful in trying to find a honey mustard that my 3 yr old liked. FYI, if you are expecting the usual honey mustard as dip for chicken tenders, they don't seem to have it. The 2 he brought us were spicy and then he brought me a salad dressing that my daughter didn't like. He tried but they just don't have the regular honey mustard. Food was good and hot. The Parmesan Garlic Fries are pretty good. I ordered a mixed drink and it was pretty good. Noise level was a little loud but it was crowded and there were lots of kids, so good if you have kids. I'm looking forward to going again and trying something different.

Hey Caryites....You have to give this place a try! We need to keep good restaurants like this in business especially when the food is as good as this. We were hitting Trader Joe's but needed a bite to eat and decided to give this place a try. Nicole recommended the wings and the burgers but said anything with Mahi was great. We tried the Mahi Fish Tacos and they were awesome. Big strips of fresh Mahi, lightly grilled with the signature Gold Rush sauce in two good size tacos and gaucomole & sour cream at no extra charge....Yummy! We will be back for sure to try the other Mahi-Mahi items and eventually we will get to the wings with the 30 different sauces. Good Beer and drink selections, too.

Finally a good wing place that serves something for the whole family. I highly recommend the baja taco salad with the mahi mahi! delicious! My kids seemed to enjoy it and they had a nice kids menu with a good amount of choices! their Parmesan fries where not enough for 2 hungry kids and mom and dad so we had to get two (delicious!). I liked the fact that there was enough tv's that they had both sports shows and something for the kids to watch! the servers seemed to be really knowledgeable especially about the company and the fact that they just opened. Plus the manager seemed like she genuinely cared about the food and not with the normal. how's everything yada yada!. Will probably be back this weekend !!

We went last night great service and food. The wings were great! My favorite food was steak philly and fire cracker shrimp. The servers were polite and helpful with the broad menu. Going back tomorrow kids can't wait!

Our first experience her was good and we'll go back. The wings were great and the fish tacos awesome! Best in town. Perfectly grilled mahi and lots of it! Firecracker shrimp wasn't my favorite - not sure how to describe it - the flavor was good, but the texture was mushy. The steak can only be ordered medium or well b/c they are marinated so already "medium" before they put it on the grill. The staff needs to know that so they tell people it won't be medium rare or rare. Flavor was good. Service was EXCELLENT! Our server in the bar (at a table) was spot on and had a very positive "can-do" attitude. I will say that the tables in the bar are so close together that if the table next to you is seated, someone has to get up our of their seat in order for others to get into their seats. Maybe they should get rid of just one of those tables? We'll be back - the menu is huge so we have many other things we want to try.

I had lunch here on Friday hoping to find a solid wing place. Food: I tried 4 of their 30 different wing flavors. I like that they put them in categories so you can choose your "hot level" and then choose flavors within that. I also appreciate that they have sauces as well as rubs. I hate bone-less, but those are available also. Their classic wing flavor was average, but we got one that was a horseradish flavor that I really liked, as well as a Cajun rub and a spicy garlic. The two things I like the most about the wings were that the wings were above average in meatiness, and the wings were hot when they arrived. (I've had many wing experiences where the wings were clearly under a heat lamp and they just sauce them before they serve them). Service/Ambiance: The restaurant wasn't packed, so the service was good. Things might be different on a Friday night. They have created an "island / Jimmy Buffet" type atmosphere. It's an interesting idea instead of making the place a seedy bar or a hardcore sports theme. It makes the place unique and upbeat, but oddly appropriate. Other: they had a reasonable selection of beers on tap: a mix of local and micro-brews. Their prices were on the high side for wings, but I felt like they were fair given the quality. In summation: I'll go back!

Zero stars. My server seemed to be "impaired" and ignored my concerns about food allergy (blue cheese). Not only did I get blue cheese, it was poured directly over my wings so I couldn't eat them and had to send them back. 45+ Minutes later my lunch hour was up and I hadn't eaten yet. I asked the manager to take them off my bill and they said it wasn't possible to remove it from the bill because it had already been rung up... that's simply not true and I have to say I feel like the employee's were actively ignoring my concerns or perhaps too "incapacitated" to make sense of them or just blatantly ignored them. There's much better wing places nearby. I won't be back but will be sure to tell everyone I know about how bad of an experience I had here.

Ate there tonight for the first time. Our waiter was John....he did a great job. I had the grilled Mahi sandwish which was very good. My son enjoyed his burger and my wife liked her fish tacos (which were grilled). We also have the loaded fries as and appetizers which were good but nothing special. They really need to upgrade their fries to a rough cut, more natural fries. My son was the only one that got desert...the Chocolate Cheese cake. I'm assuming it was good because he ate it so fast we couldn't get a bite.

The sauce selection is great, as everyone says. I get the grilled chicken sandwich with raspberry ice sauce. The best part is the service--go in for lunch and you might get a free app. I've always gotten great waiters!

NEW April 4 2014 I tried this place again a couple of weeks ago, with everything being GREAT again! Wanted to try it again and to my surprise it was worse then before. Two of us were seated promptly, with a very long wait to get our drink order, just tea, one sweet and one unsweetened, both received unsweetened. Manager stop by to check on us, she took the wrong drink back and a third person brought out the replacement some time much later. Finally the cheese burgers arrived, one had the wrong cheese and both were cooked medium well (little pink) when they were both ordered very well done. We can't seem to get continually good service and food from this place any more. Might try it again in 6 months, to give it one more try? Original Review Follows from 2-19-13 I have been eating dinner here once or twice a week for the last few months. I know most of the servers by name at this point, I have known one server over ten years from other places they worked. When Chili's closed across the street, it was hard to get a seat at Hurricane's for a couple of weeks. I was curious about the drop in business, so started to search some reviews. Most reviews have a TREND link (at the top of the page) to show a 6 month chart of past ratings. Looks like you either love or hate this place by looking at the "Filtered Reviews" (not included in the rating) link at the bottom of the page. I have not had any real long delays in being seated, the Hostess often helps bus the tables when very busy to get you seated faster, so sometimes they are not at the door. I have had servers stop what they are doing to find me a seat. One of the house manager is usually making rounds to be sure you have everything you ordered or need. All of the servers that have waited on me, seem to be doing everything they can to make sure your dinning is enjoyable, they know their tips depend on excellent service. Several are naturally funny people and seem to enjoy their work even on very busy nights. Some of us customers can get very demanding at times. The down side for me: If you like your burgers cooked medium, this is the place for you. However, if you want it Well Done with NO Pink, you are out of luck here! I always make a point to tell the servers that I like my burger Well Done with NO pink, I finally had to send one back for a replacement that was medium at best. I don't blame any of the servers, they just place the order, it is a kitchen staff issue. I had just finished talking to the house manager about the barely warm Garlic Parmesan fries I received on another night, had them replaced with more just about as warm. Normally the fries are served very hot and are great! I felt the manager should of brought the replacement burger to my table, but it was left to my server to smooth things over. My server got a bigger tip that night. Soda and iced tea are over priced compared to other casual food places in the area. Drinks are one of the highest profit items in any restaurant. There are many places to get a good burger, and I like Pepper Jack cheese most of the time, but you can't get it here. When paying premium prices you expect great service and good food. At this point the burgers my be off my menu, the sliders are another of my favorite, but the service is the main reason I keep going back. I try to offer helpful suggestions that would make everyone's dinning experience better, I try to pass my ideas on to servers, then on to management when necessary. The house manager always makes time to stop at my table to say Hello, by name.

Best wing place in the area. We come here often because it has a nice bar and a separate area where families can sit in traditional dining seating. I live closer to Buffalo Wild Wings and East Coast Wings however I drive the extra 10 minutes because it's well worth it.

Won't be going back there, extremely disappointed ... a total waste of money.

had the shrimp taco's they were tasty. The place was clean and serve staff was on point.

Great wings with a bunch of different sauces. I didn't like the water being removed to fill back up. Many different daily specials. Worth a try in the local area.

Pretty good new place. Wings were great. The service was ok. Felt like servers were not very educated in the menu.

Wings were pretty good. I got the Boss and the Garlic Parmesan. Liked the Garlic Parm better. My friend got a Salmon platter, which apparently tasted good but it looked more like a lunch plate. The description stated it came with rice and broccoli then directly underneath that the menu said "All entrées come with fries and slaw" -- but my friend just got rice and broccoli. He wanted the fries and slaw and the server stated that it was not served with those items. I showed the server on the menu where it stated the added items and he didn't attempt to get clarification, etc... It definitely was not "platter" size. Although the waiter was pleasant I think that the menu may have been printed wrong and there needs to be a correction.

Try the Island Pork Sliders with the Cyclone Sauce, they're amazing!

(4)Jennifer J.
